I have just recently noticed something that really puzzles me. This one person, always posts good comments about the songs I have submitted, yet always ranks them low.

OK, how would I know they did that? I noticed that my "overall" rank dropped down really quickly. I checked all ten of my subs and saw that each one's individual rank had just dropped down. So I went to each song page and noticed that the same person had just commented on almost every one. (The few they hadn't just commented on, they had previously commented on). This person left good comments on each song. It was immediately following those comments, that the individual, as well as the overall rankings, dropped down. Huh??

Now, I appreciate honest rankings, but I would expect the comment to reflect the ranking given. Obviously, if the person gives a low ranking, they really didn't like the song very much. So, why would they leave comments like, GREAT! Loved It!? etc, etc. yet, give it a low ranking? To me, that just doesn't make any sense.

Please don't misunderstand. I very much appreciate HONEST critiques and rankings. I wouldn't have it any other way! It's just that I would expect the comment (critique) to match the ranking given.

hey novice...duck...NOW .. its not always a good thing to ask those questions but i do agree..i dont mind less than ten but what i would really really really love to have is a reason i wasnt good enough and how can i get better and better

Im right there at the bottom of the list with you there Kathy.Sure are alot at the top that dont hardly even post anymore.Some for weeks.

I think that top singers list needs turned over and started anew.It does not appear to be correct.

Its important that we remember that they gave us the option to not be rated.That option is looking pretty good to me right about now.

You'll always be a 10!! I love listening to your songs! I really don't care what kind of ranking I have. I really don't. Hell, I was near death, just a month ago, so I'm happy just ta be alive & Kickin, hence the signature line, "2004 Alive & Kickin Tour". ! It's amazing how quickly something like that, puts a whole new spin on things! Kind of puts things in perspective.

I just don't understand the people that say one thing but "think" and rank, another. It just dosen't make sense to me, that's all.

As far as, "Do I know that I just might be insane?" Hell, there aint no "might" about it! I haven't been playing with a full deck for quite some time! Like the song says, "If we couldn't laugh, we would all go insane"

You're a solid 10, right up there with Kathy! We all know that. You are right about the top 100 listing though. The charts, or whatever.

But you really got me to thinking on a solution for this..its a problem not matter what site I am on.

Phil..where are u? ...why not find a way to change the script to let people on their profile define if they chose to be rated or not on their subs..and if they chose no..then they shouldnt be given the option to rate anyone else..comment and encourage yes..rate no...if they chose to be rated then they get full option.

However...if anyone rates below a 9 at all they should truly give some reason for it.....it makes no sense to tell someone they are great then give them an 8? the 8 option specifies it was a very good sub. Not great at all...very good..

Rating can be fun..being rated can be helpful...it adds an air of validity to someones critique. Backs it up..you know what I mean.

But I really think if someone is afraid to allow critiques..they really couldnt be prepared to give one in a thoughtful, courteous and helpful manner.

Not everyone strives to "be a star" but most of us crave to be one of the best...Even I get a twinge of sad face when I just realised eek Im not even good enough for the top 100 list anymore ...

I will always leave mine to be rated. BUTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT...dont cheat me...give me that 9..8..7...6...eek at 5 or lower ..but tell me how I can fix it..tell me how to be better ...help me..

oh..ps...from now on if you leave ur sub for a rate I will critique it to the very best of my ability..and you will know why I gave u less than a 10 if it applies...Its not fair for me to cheat you either if you have asked for feedback...

This is why I've stopped ranking anyone as well as stopped having my subs ranked( haven't givin a # rank in the past two weeks). The numbers seem to take the fun outta' the whole thing. I'm havin' a LOT more fun just postin' and listenin'. Y'all take care

The top 100 list, with it's current setup, is actually a bit misleading. In all fairness to the web guru, trying to come up with a system that really works well, can be very difficult and no system will ever be 100% perfect.

The ranking reminds me very much of eBay's feedback system. They've been discussing the feedback system forever, trying to tweak it, trying to make it more fair etc. They still haven't come up with that 100% perfect, magic formula, that pleases everyone. I don't believe they ever will. They just do the best they can with what they've got. That's all they can do.

I guess the main thing to remember is that we're mainly just doing this for fun!

Het atleast you guys get ranked. If no one listens to your stuff or gives you a rank does that mean u just suck too bad to comment on?

Jimmie,I believe it takes 3 people ranking you,for it to show on your submission. Someone please correct me if I am wrong. That is the way I understood that it worked.

Tammy is right Jimmie Ray. Three people must rank your song, for a ranking to show up on your song submission. Some people will just comment and not rank. Some people wont comment or rank.

I will tell you right now, YOU DEFINITELY DO NOT SUCK! (Man I hate that term)

I ranked "Too Cold At Home" 10 and "Sunday Rain" 9.

I am very guilty of commenting and not ranking, but only out of ignorance. Please forgive me, I am still just 2 days old...WAHHHH!!! I keep forgetting to rank after I've made my comments but will definitely be more mindful of this in the future.

I know, but I just felt bad when I hit the "enter" button each time and kept forgetting to rank. I've been practicing, though and now my ranking finger is working pretty good!

I'm so glad you like my songs. I drive my family nutty crazy with all my singing. I always want to sound professional by the time the weekend hits and we're going to a karaoke place, so I practice a song til its rolled over and died a slow death!
