I am after a basic CDG editor to make some parodies out of some songs I have in my collection.
Is there any software that will just open the CDG file so I can just change words?
Any help would be aprectiated Thanks

When I want to make a song parody, I just re do the song from scratch with Karaoke Builder Studio. I don't know how to use any of the editing software out there and if you know the song pretty well, it doesn't take that much time to re do the whole song.

Editing the existing stuff is difficult and I know of no real tools for that.
However, taking the music portion and then adding your own words is easy. I use MTU's Karaoke Home Producer (because that is what I bought five years ago). There are a number of packages besides that one.
