As a newbie this forum and vocation, this forum was and is the best tool I've found. Equipment purchaces and useage, preformance protocal, the list goes on. I use the net for information at all times.

I'm happy to be here and I tell other KJ's that if their not on this forum, they're missing out.

Mark

Wow The MOST important thing?

I'd say the ability to to speak with others that understand the business. Being able to communicate with others who know what it is like to do the type of job we do.

Many of us work alone and don't have the every day business setting that allows us to talk with co-workers and vent about the boss, talk over new advances, problems with the industry etc...

That's why I never have a problem with people who just want to vent. Who better understands, but us.

I've learned a lot on the forum that I could not learn by talking to friends and family. We have a unique job that most people in our lives can't relate too unless they've done it themselves. How to deal with 300 lb drunks puking on stage and passing out is not your normal every day business experience. LOL

No 2 karaoke shows are the same
There are many ways to run a karaoke show and a zillion ways to measure success.
It doesn't matter if you spent $10G on equipment or $75.00 as long as the SINGERS are having fun..thats the key.

OH and there's only 1 way to run a fair rotation LOL

Anything more than $1 is not a TIP but a BRIBE

and I just found out all the KJ's on here are pirates

In my case, and to just write the most important as requested, it's to see my nights out, from the other side. To see what you KJ's go thru and how you work things. Learned what you like to help the night go smoothly. The better it runs for you, the better and more fun it goes for us.

THANKS :cowboy: :beermates:

The realization that others here are willing to help when needed and will go the extra mile, even for a virtual stranger! Thanks guys!
Next is the understanding in our jobs that Babs talks about ,and then the sharing of the disc specials and equipment recommendations.
You guys are awesome! Thanks!

I learned that if a piece of equipment says karaoke on it, it is probably over priced and of subpar quality.

IE; this Acesonic Karaoke microphone that is on my desk cost me $40 on sale and it came with the permanently attached cable for free.

Wow! You're lucky!
I have to buy my cables separately and what a PITA to have to hook them up each time!

Me too mate.

What have I got from this forum.
I have the impression that what I do is acceptable.
Realisation that I can screw up also.
Realisation that I cant motivate people like I hoped I could.
Realisation that there is no limit on my learning ability.
Realisation that I will support the underdog. No, I always knew that.
Realisation that I miss Exweed and I would like him to return.
That guy helped me so much. A selfless act.
Realisation that my Angel has gone for ever.
Realisation that since giving up smoking I can climb walls with my finger nails.

EVERYTHING! After 10 years in the business, I still learn from all of you (even if it's what NOT to do).
