Ok I'm looking into adding some lighting to my setup and wonder what everyone would suggest to get the most bang for your buck.

I'd start with a pair of LED wash lighting, like the one below. This is your basic background effect, and the thing ALL bands invest in first before anything else:

The type of lighting you get will depend on how you want to incorporate it into your show.

If you're looking for lights to shine at the singers on stage, some Par 36 cans with different color gels would be fine. You can get 4 of them, a chaser controller and a light tree tripod stand for about $200.

If you want to put lighting on the dance floor, I would suggest the Revo III lighting effect. It's about $250 and projects over a wide area. About 400 different color LEDs automatically cycle through patterns. Very exciting effect.

Here's where I order all my lighting...pretty good prices!

I bought the Chauvet 4-Bar and LOVE it. (LINK).

PROS: The LED's are very bright, especially in the subdued lighting of a bar. Are they as bright as PAR cans? No, but in my situation I think PAR's would be TOO bright. The biggest benefit to me was the low power consumption...48 Watts! If I was to plug in conventional lighting at 400-600 watts, I would be blowing breakers for sure. They come with a very sturdy, velvet lined case & bag for the stand. I have used them on the road for several months now, and have had zero problems.

CONS: Expensive compared to conventional lighting ($399 List). I have read that the DMX interface is a bit "laggy". I don't use a lighting controller, so it's a moot point for me.

Overall, I am delighted and would buy them again. In fact I am saving up to buy a second unit.
