I recently began using the justkaraoke hosting program after reading recommendations here for a good basic hosting program and i am happy with it so far as that my computer skills are lacking to say the least. The issue that i am having with it is that if a song is playing and i do a search for another song while that song is playing it makes the song that is playing skip or hiccup so to speak. Does anyone else have this issue with this program or am i doing something wrong? Any guidance would be appreciated. Thank You.

That would have been my question too, "how much RAM do you have?" I have two laptops with it installed, both are Dell, and quite comparable. My main laptop has 1.5 gig and has zero issues, but my backup laptop has 1.25 gig (approx) and it mildly does what you are experiencing. The search isn't as fast as the main laptop, but not too bad. If I have to use the back up laptop, I just have learned "when" to do the searches
I plan on upgrading the RAM in it when I can.

Thank you for your replies. My laptop is an acer aspire with 3GB DDR2 memory and the operating system is windows 7. I purchased this laptop at Bestbuy for $369.00 upon recommendation of a friend just to host karaoke in my home. Do you feel that this was a bad choice?

Doesn't sound like it is regular memory issues. Check your video ram. if it is less than 64 mb then you might have issues with any hosting program.

First of all, I don't use Just Karaoke but I do use the MTU Hoster but maybe there are similarities between the two.

3GB of RAM is plenty to run any program under Win7. Do you have anything else heavy running on the background? I am not running Win7 so I don't how to do it but the easiest way to check is to hit control-alt-delete and bring up processor window and see which processes are taking up a lot of CPU time. If it's something you don't need, maybe you can stop running those processes and you will be a better performance.

When I installed the latest Hoster, it gives you a bunch of outline of things they recommend you do to the OS setting to make it run smoothly. Here is the link to their web site:

http://www.mtu.com/upgrades/hoster/windows7-changes.htm

I am not saying that you need to make these changes but maybe these types of software likes these types of changes to make it run smooth. Worth a try.

Eben just reminded me of what was posted on Tricerasoft's forum about windows 7;
