Am I reading that correctly??? Is Chartbusters actually saying that you can't play their tracks if you format shift them?

I'm not really concerned with that so much as someone that I don't even really know in real life went out of their way (more than you will ever know!) to do something for me (a stranger) and get me something I really wanted! Woo hoo!!! thanks, Karen!

Actions or in-actions speak louder than words.

Yes they are saying you do not have permission to format shift, but they have not gone after anybody that has.

WOW! This is unbelievable. I received my order of Chartbusters Value pack today. Get this guys! 20 CDG's. 15 Hot Country Hits Collection of 15 songs per CD, and 5 Country Hot Hits of 6+6 per CD. Price: 39.95 plus 9.41 ship/h. Even tho' I have about 35 percent of the songs, I think the other 65 percent is still worth the price. Thanks CB!

And some still wonder why or how some people can get alot of cd+g's for a little bit of money with out being a pirate. This is how. You just look and keep an eye out for the deals then you can get alot of songs for a little bit of money. And if you really do it right then you can decent ones for a little bit of money. You do not have to buy every one for $15 to $20 each like some keep tryin to say to "prove" that people have to be pirates to have as many as they do.

And you can also do like myself and some others on here do and buy out used sets from KJ's going out of business or even single discs from people. That's what I've done and I have thousands of dollars in music but actually only invested a fraction that.

Ah well, I was looking into these sets, unfortunately the country set would be the only one feasible for me, giving me 119 new (old) songs. Being the songs that would benefit me are really old country, they become of no benefit.
The pop set was even worse, only giving me 33 new (old) songs. Funny thing is, the country set - right off has 29 dups out of 255 within itself & the pop set has 42 dups out of 209 songs listed. Surprised they would do that - unless they are multiplexed, which still wouldn't do most kj's any good.

This is what I don't understand about huge libraries. Even with just having 5,000 songs, for me to buy a set still gives me so many duplicates that sometimes I am better off just making a custom of the few songs people actually want to sing. So at a certain point, people who accumulate huge libraries are just buying the same songs over and over and over and over again. So deal or no deal, when there are so many other things to spend your budget on, like new mics or printing books etc. WHY would you spend money buying the same songs over again?

Different versions is why the same song mulitple times. I know of several songs that there are different versions and there are some that want one and others that like a different one and then there are others that will only sing the 3rd version.
Choice is always a good thing. Some may be in lower range and the person running the karaoke (even thou she has been running it for years) does not know how to change the key for the singer (the equipment can handle the key changes) and would rather just pull a disc that has a lower key.

Choice is great provided there was interest in the choice to begin with. I wouldn't think of buying a song I already had from another manu, unless the song was requested by a regular singer from another manu they were used to, or the song was such a bad version to begin with that it needed replacing (have only done a handful of times over the years) - but only if the song was being sung to start with. Like the above sets, too many duplicates and most are on songs that normally do not get done in the first place.
If it was the same song however a different version - ie Friends in Low Places studio vs Live (w/3rd verse), I list them both as some prefer one or the other.
At This Moment - I have a long ending where the singer is more of the musical source and quicker to the point ending (both noted in the books which is which).
But as to buying duplicates just to have another version, that to me is throwing money away - especially if the version you already have is a song that is not normally sung to begin with - why bother.
I have always been careful to not purposely duplicate songs in my library, over 12K non-dup'd, 14K with dups and most of those typically come from close out specials (bought over 100 SC discs for approx $120 a couple years back - the duplication factor was probably slightly less than half, but many were replacing inferior (IMO) brands) or from buying discs off of singers that no longer want those discs.
