We have over 700,000 karaoke songs for sale! We run our own karaoke shows and are constantly updating our songs with the newest songs that have come out so if you are starting out fresh in the karaoke business or are looking for newer updated songs, then you have come to the right people! We are selling the songs themselves for $500 which is a steal! This price is if you bring your OWN hard drive! You will need to have at least a 1.5 TB hard drive to allow all these songs to be stored together. Hey, Swingman maybe you can do an article on them for one of your publications. Maybe about getting into the Guennis book of world records for how long it would take to sing all 700,000 songs.

I especially loved this part....

Now THERE's some truth in advertising.

Lets see,
100 songs page- is a good average....
=7000 pages for the songbook
Weight 5 pounds per 500 pages (standard 20 bond paper)
70 pound binder. FOR THE PAPER ALONE.

I will reach the one year mark of using Compuhost in August, and have kept the stats section since I started.
I have about 12,000 unique titles in my book.
According to the CompuHost stats, in the past 9 months (about 80 shows), I have had 1151 unique singers sing 668 unique songs.
I work in a very busy bar and get in about 50 songs a night. 668 unique songs. The song PICTURE alone has been sung 86 times in 80 shows.
I think it proves that IN THEORY a karaoke DJ could get by with a well-selected book of 1500 or so songs.
BUT we all also know that the PERCEPTION of singers is that a KJ has to have a big book to be a good karaoke show!!!

KJ Pro lists just under 400,000 songs in their entire data base. Could they have missed over 300,000 karaoke songs???

I think we get through about 72 songs in a five-hour show.

I would think that, with 700,000 songs you wouldn't need a book. Certainly couldn't afford to print them. Oh, yeah - how many hard drives do you have to sell to be able to afford the printing of 10 books of 700,000 songs?
With that many songs, my hard drive would be too heavy to pick up!

700,000 divided by 15 songs per disc = comes out to about 46,667 discs for Sound Choice to check out. I hope the investigator gets paid by the hour. ... I know my Sound Choice discs are in one of these boxes down here in my basement. Happy Hunting!!!

I remember someone before on another topic saying that KJ Pro only lists English language karaoke with possibly some of the latin made by domestic manufacturers. Someone with 700,000 songs probably has a good bit of foreign language karaoke.

I recently saw a competitor's song book and I must say it was the most impressive karaoke song book I have ever seen. I'm going to be copying their approach on my next printing...
Their book only had a few thousand songs listed, but they were the RIGHT few thousand songs. After visiting their show as just a singer and just looking at it from the singer's viewpoint I have to think I've made a huge mistake by listing all the obscure stuff I have.
It just makes it harder for the singers to find the songs most are really going to want to sing and from the KJ viewpoint makes the book a whole lot more expensive and bulky...
Something else cool they did by the way -- caricatures of the artists alongside their listing -- a lot of them were absolutely hilarious.

I have seen all kinds of ways to do books.
One has the book that was never completely redone in last few years but has a new page for every month. Kinda hard to really find anything when you have to look at a few years worth of "New songs for x month" over and over. Fine if you don't want to redo the book but every little while but come on, a few is one thing but more than that is confusing.
Another has the book in (I think 14 font) and listed by artist first name then last name and the song part has the ones with "The" as in "The Aire That I Breathe" in the title that way done alpha.
Then there is the way that is mostly done: Artist last name, first name then song and the ones with "The" as in "Air That I Breathe, The"
We prefer the last way ourselves, makes it much easier to find any song including the weird old ones which he likes to sing.
