Not when you consider how many times the songs in these sets are duplictated. In fact on one of the Country sets I bought, two disks have the exact songs on them. The disks are just labeled different: One is labeled Country Hits Of The Month Volume 236 and the other is labeled Hot Country Hits Collection Volume 236. They're really the same disk! I feel cheated by this.
For those who don't know, Chartbuster began bundling and selling older sets for 39.95 So, be careful...You're not getting all the songs that you think.

The best CB deal is the first 6 sets of 450 songs on SCDG discs that go for about $125 or even much less if you watch the auctions on ebay. I haven't looked at ebay lately for these sets since I already bought mine around a year ago. If they ever have 4 or 5 more 450 song discs bundled in a set with other songs not in the first 6 sets I'll certainly buy those too. I think I paid $125 and I've read of people paying a lot less. I felt like I hit the jackpot at $125, it's a very good deal IMO compared to what Soundchoice, PHM, ZOOM and some other companies are selling for.

All of the songs in the bundle are listed on the CB site. But with so many discs, I can see how it could be a pain to go through them all. However, in all fairness, they ARE there.

Yes, they are all there and I may have overlooked that on their site, however if you are advertising a set containing 255 songs, their should NOT be any duplicates, let alone identical discs. The reality is if 25 of those 255 songs are duplicates, you are not getting such a deal as you may think.
Chartbuster: Why would you include two discs with the exact same songs? Just labeled diferently.
I think if you are going to offer these sets, make sure that they do not include duplicates. I have been a long time Chartbuster supporter and 80% of my library is Chartbuster but I'm starting not to like what their doing...
Like dropping the count from 15 to 12 on their Hits Of The Month collection and charging the same price you charged for 15.
Come on CB...what's going on with you?

It is a good deal...but the songs only rip out at 128kbps.

Now, I'm against piracy in any form however it's hard to do the right thing when CB is giving it's customers the shaft. Like BruceFan4LIfe said, they want us to do the right thing and be legal and all but do you think what they're doing is the right thing?
In another thread, Lonnie said:
- right off has 29 dups out of 255 within itself & the pop set has 42 dups out of 209 songs listed. Surprised they would do that -
That is deplorable! Chartbuster, what is with you? Why would you screw the very same people that buy your products and keep you in business?
If you advertise a collection of 255 songs, we should expect to get 255 unique songs, not 209.
This is a shady business practice and you are only alienating your good customers and supporters.
As Bruce said, if you want us to do the right thing, then YOU need to do the right thing. Don't screw your customers.

I don't know what the big fuzz is all about, but 209 songs for 39.99 is what I consider a great deal. Let me break this down. 209 songs at 15 songs per CD is equivalent to approx 14 cds. In short, It's only $2.85 per CD. These are not SGBrown, Backstage or Sound Images CD's. It's Chartbusters! That amount of songs and for that price is a great savings in my book. At this price ChartB can give me the shaft anytime. Jeeezzz, you guys!

But again, it's only a great deal if a company does not have those songs to begin with, all but less than a quarter of the songs in my book would be actual useable songs, but then I do buy new songs all year round for singers.

As someone just starting out in this "sinking ship" of a business I just purchased the CB country and pop bundles for $46.00 each after shipping. If there are duplicates in the set, that is fine with me, because I am still getting a lot of songs that I do not already have. The simple answer to the problem is this, if the bundle isn't worth the money to you don't buy it. If it is, buy it! They aren't screwing you unless you already have those songs, which they list on the website, even the duplicates (best I could tell anyway). If you went to home depot and they had a great deal on lawnmowers, but you already had 3 lawnmowers, would you buy one? I wouldn't! But, if I did, I wouldnt say that they screwed me, I'd say I made a bad purchasing decision.

I too bought the first set of bargain discs they put out and there were no dups in the bunch but I did have a couple of discs from previous purchases but not to worry they will be put up on EBAY and I will recoup any monies I might have lost on the one or two discs.
The only thing I wish they would do is along with listing all the songs that they would list the disc numbers, that way you could find out exactly you are getting..
HEY CB ARE YOU LISTENING???

Chartbuster has been doing whacky things for some time now. The REAL SHAME is that Chartbuster sells to retailers through the years that actually bought tons of disc from them. ( I know many retailers and have heard). They then turn around and undercut the retailer they sold to and sell direct to the customer. UNETHICAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Nothing worse than a manufacturer who has authorized dealers throughout the United States and then turns around and sells it for less than the retail store can. HORRIBLE

I'll second Lone Wolf's request for the disc number. I own a large number of CB discs and it's a lot easier to check to see if I have a disc than to hunt down 200+ titles. It would also make it easier to cross check if any of the songs are duplicated on any of the other discs in the package.

Hey Tim,
You just don't get it do ya? We're not talking disks or songs I already own. We're talking about songs I DON'T already have but being forced to accept duplicates to aquire them.
If I need songs X, Y, and Z ...and I see CB has them as part of their bundle, why do I need to have doubles of these same songs. I'm buying these sets mainly for the songs I don't have not to get doubles I don't need.
CB, the solution is simple, sell bundle sets that don't contain any dups or the same discs with the same songs just labeled differently. This way, we'll be getting the deal we should be getting in the first place.
Tim, let me ask you a question...
You buy a box of Crayola crayons. You know, the big 64 box set. Well, I remember every crayon was a different color. But let's say you bought this set Tim thinking you're geting 64 different colors only to find that 25 of them were duplicates of other colors. You know like two reds, three greens, 2 blues...
Got it? Or would you still think it's ok.
C'mon, wake up and see what's happening here.

i get the crayon analogy, my point is that the songs are listed on the site...you know you are getting dups going into the purchase...therefore you have to say "im not getting x amount of songs im getting y amount of songs, thus making my cost per song title go up" yes it makes the per song price more, and cb probably should make bundles not have dups, im not saying its business savvy...but if they list the songs, and there are dups on the list, they didnt cheat you, they sent you what was advertised.

I agree they should sell the bulk sets without dups within, however do agree with they do list the songs on the site as to what you are actually getting before you hit the purchase button, buyer beware. Do a little research, are the dups within worth getting the set for the non-dups that you may actually need.

The songs are listed. You should have seen that. If not well then it was your mistake and NOT CB's. So stop complaining about something that you should have seen or at the very least expected. Sorry but if you already have some CB's or been in this even just a little while then you already know that manu's redo discs with only sometimes fixing a title of a song of just rearanging of the list. There are programs out there that all you have to do is put the title of the song in and will tell you what other discs it might be on. It does not take a rocket scientist to do a little looking. The next time don't buy a bundle just buy individual discs, you will still end up with dups at times and you will spend more for each but hey maybe it will have more of what you want.

To respond to the comments above, first some clarification: These Blowout Bundles are intended to clear old, outdated merchandise from our own warehouse. They are all discontinued discs with the licensing paid for the manufacture but that never sold through. They are made available to dealers at the same price as the general public - $39.95 for the set. All the songs for each set are listed on the website when you click on the product. Each disc is in a paper sleeve, no jewel case.
Quote: In fact on one of the Country sets I bought, two disks have the exact songs on them. The disks are just labeled different: One is labeled Country Hits Of The Month Volume 236 and the other is labeled Hot Country Hits Collection Volume 236. They're really the same disk! I feel cheated by this. That's why we publish the song list. We feel there's still value in each disc, and can't avoid duplicates if we're going to clear this stock out of the warehouse. Even if a 15 song disc has only five songs you don't already have, you still purchased them for less than forty cents each. That's a darn good deal no matter how you slice it. Quote: CB loosing credibility fast. Perhaps you could explain that, jerry12x. Quote: The best CB deal is the first 6 sets of 450 songs on SCDG discs that go for about $125 or even much less if you watch the auctions on ebay. No Chartbuster Karaoke songs have been licensed for mechanical reproduction on Super CDG for many years. If you've purchased one in the recent past, it is almost certainly a counterfeit. Quote: The reality is if 25 of those 255 songs are duplicates, you are not getting such a deal as you may think. It seems to me as if you're saying "Gee, these tracks are about fifteen and a half cents each, instead of the one dollar and sixty-six cents they normally are, but that's only a ninety-one percent reduction in price. They should be cheaper." As I said, we think these packs are a great value. Quote: and then they wonder why so many people buy loaded hard drives from CL or E Bay? You cheat us.......We cheat you. Let me see, we offer discs that have been unavailable for as much as ten years, sell them at a 90%+ price cut, and you feel cheated. Is it possible to satisfy you, BruceFan4Life? (Also, why would you endorse piracy on a public forum?) Quote: That is deplorable! Chartbuster, what is with you? Why would you screw the very same people that buy your products and keep you in business? Again, I must ask what part of this process you find "shady" or how you're feeling "screwed" as we aren't advertising "255 unique songs." There are uses for discs with duplicates, especially discs that work out to less than two dollars each before shipping. Quote: The simple answer to the problem is this, if the bundle isn't worth the money to you don't buy it. Spoken like someone who knows what capitalism is and how it works in the consumer's favor. Thank you. Quote: The only thing I wish they would do is along with listing all the songs that they would list the disc numbers, that way you could find out exactly you are getting. I'll speak with the web developers and see if there's a way to make that a part of the presentation online. Quote: They then turn around and undercut the retailer they sold to and sell direct to the customer. UNETHICAL! None of these discs have been available to dealers for a long time. If they have stock on these items that didn't sell through, it should have been returned long ago for credit. I don't see how you think this is competition between a manufacturer and a retailer. We are very careful with our retail pricing for this very reason. Secondly, is Levi Strauss putting the screws to The Gap because they maintain a factory outlet store? And it sounds suspiciously as if you are saying that a company shouldn't be able to set the price for their own merchandise. Who would you say is better positioned to do that? Quote: thinking you're geting 64 different colors only to find that 25 of them were duplicates of other colors. You know like two reds, three greens, 2 blues... What if the box were clearly labeled "This package contains two reds, three greens, two blues...?" Quote: We're talking about songs I DON'T already have but being forced to accept duplicates to aquire them.
Seriously? No one is forcing you to do anything. If you don't like the deal at fifteen cents per track, please don't purchase them. We're selling them at this price to clear inventory space, which costs money. It's really very simple.
Any additional questions or comments?

First, I think it's great you are on the forum answering questions. Very cool!
So is this seller legit? All 6 Essentials SCDG's for $79. He claims "Totally New - Direct from Manufacture! No copies- never!"
