Can we move away from SOUNDCHOICE, PIRATES AND LAW SUITS ?
What's NEW and EXCITING for Karaoke ? - What have you seen at shows that are different and special lately ?
What new PRODUCTS or SOFTWARE is now available that we all might not know about?
Have you upgraded your system and want to tell about it ?

Last week I purchased a newer version of my hosting program. I was using (2) programs - 1 for dj/karaoke which was PCDJ RED MOBILE /Karaoki.
Would have to say not the best for karaoke ?
I just purchased the latest version of KARMA from Latshaw Systems and I was pleasantly surprised with some of the recent enhancements. Marqguee Scrolling message and singer up next list. Built in sound effects.
The other thing I purchased was a VGA to RCA converter which works GREAT ( suggested by somone here in another discussion) Using your laptop VGA out you can go to another VGA monitor plus an RCA TV and even a S-Video all at the same time ( pretty cool ) all for $30

WHATS ON YOU MIND ?

Any song with a sex, I mean Sax in it. But you do open up a whole line of thinking of those songs that would be appropriate. I'm just not thinking right now.

I'm in the process of updating several components, just got my QSC GX5 amp to replace a Carvin DCM1000 - better match powerwise to the speakers it is connected to - will most likely replace my DCM600 with a GX3 and my sub amp with a PLX series. Mics are all being replaced with new - shafts are so worn the cords don't lock in them anymore. Will be replacing all drivers in all speakers after that, swapping out the piezo drivers for good compression drivers in my monitors & bi-amping them & then will be saving up for a Driverack 260 for the mains and all new cords. Changing out the stage CRT monitor with an LCD flatscreen.
By the end of the year I want to have everything complete.

Hey LONNIE!!----since youre updating/replacing gear---how bout getting a new mic stand---one of those sturdy heavy metal base and quick height adjustment clip stage mic stands?? Get rid of that old flimsy tripod mic stand!!! And also get yourself a SHURE 55M big ol' silver old-school ELVIS JAZZ/BLUES mic to go with it!!

Got a TON of gigs booked over the next 2 months. I think I only have one Friday & Saturday off in June.
And we are doing the sound for "Iowa Falls Idol" on a Wed nite. Every year that have "law chair nite" with some kind of performance. Usually about 50-100 attend. But for the "Iowa Falls Idol" nite which coincides with "Taste of Iowa Falls", they had 300+ last year. Last year our "competitor" did the sound and messed up bad. He actually mad an announcement over the mic saying sorry to the people in the back that can hear the performances, but his amps (I think radio shack ) are over heating.
SO for this one I am breaking out all the extras... compressors, EQs, & extra amps/speakers, and the GOOD MICS. I think I will even get out the ole' Black Widows, they still sound good. Setting it up in the yard for a test run this weekend to see if I can pi$$ off the neighbors To bad there wasnt a way I could fly my speakers easily/cheaply.

Just bought a pair of JBL Eon 305's and wall mounts. Installed a perminant system at my second gig, and am having a new custom roadcase built for the club.

What's new....
Updating my software to reduce memory footprint, increase stability and disaster recovery. Continue updating the website to HTML5 standards with mobile browser formatting. Develop iPhone / Droid apps for songbooks / requests.
Next, upgrade mixer from Vocopro KJ7800 to Yamaha MG124CX. Upgrade all computer & monitor screens to same LED backlit flat panel model such that they are interchangeable and take up less space.
Add BETA58A wired and wireless mics, trickle down SM58s to get rid of PG58s.
Continue to buy as many Sound Choice discs as my singers want!

I have always wanted one of these Heil Fin mics, but every time I get ready to buy it I think, eh, there's something more practical that I need first. If you give it phantom power it illuminates blue LEDs inside though. http://www.heilsound.com/pro/products/fin/

I actually had the Shure 55 for a while, got rid of it, anyone who tried to use - except maybe 3 that I can recall, always tried to hold it and sing into it like a regular mic, not through the front, but to the top. It became too much of a problem trying to do a quick education during a show. Finally sold it.

Lonnie --how do you like the GX5? I've been eyeing that amp for months now just waiting to pull the trigger. Is it as advertised ? ( perfect for 500watt speakers )
Eventually going back to some Yamaha SV115V and was wondering.

Haven't had the chance to go connect it up, but so far all the reviews i've seen on it have been mostly more than favorable. I listened to it a couple weeks ago in store with a couple of JBL SR series cabs & did a side by side with a higher end PLX model of close power & the difference was minimal. Which is what sold me, only downside really is the fact it doesn't run at 2 ohms (rarely needed though) and it can't be bridged, other than that, I don't see many negatives on it. Will be hooking up tomorrow so will be able to tell you better then.
