Hi all,
I have a real basic Karaoke machine with about 40 disks we have used for a few years for fun around the house. I have now decided to move the karaoke to my laptop to make it a little more portable. I have a laptop running the Power Karaoke software and I was able to copy a few disks to the laptop and test them. I had problems copying A Music Meastro, but no problems with Supercore and All Hits brands. So.. my questions is in your experience what are the best/affordable/easy to copy brands of discs you are using? * I am only using this for my home purpose on one laptop for those concerned with licensing issues. Thanks for any input.

Not sure why you had problems ripping the MM disc, but perhaps it was defective somehow or needed a good cleaning. Maybe even a resurfacing, because I've had no problems ripping those in the past. Another hint would be to rip at the lowest speed possible. I know it takes longer, but you're less likely to get errors. Actually, I've had no problems ripping any discs, though I'm told the discs using Mediacloq copy protection, you will get problems with. Thankfully, they've chucked that copy protection.

Maybe I should have been a little more specific. I am using Power Karaoke's CD+G burner/Ripper software. It was able to see the disk, but I could not get the track listings. All I got was track1, track2, etc. Versus other brands I got artist/song. Sorry for leaving that part out.
But still looking for recommendations on brands for my collection.

Aha! Well, in that case, Sometimes you need to hit the refresh button several times for it to come up. Happens to me all the time. Also try connecting to another database. Click on settings and select from the drop down menu. Sometimes it just means that the discs haven't been entered into the database yet and you will have to do it yourself.

I use the same software and sometimes have that problem as well. If the other databases dont have the info and refresh doesnt get it done for you sometimes you just have to type a little info yourself. I had to do this on a few of my disks when I put them on the computer

Here is something strange I found last night. I have a 2007 collection of SuperCore hits on CD+g. When I ripped them to the hard drive none of the MP3 tags came over, which is what Power Karaoke uses to index all the songs. My All Hits came over fine. Strange, as I spent part of last night fixing the SC songs.

The database they use is dependent on users, such as yourself, typing in the disc titles, so you're going to get typos and even completely wrong titles sometimes. Unfortunately, it happens more often than not. Also, if the disc has not been entered yet, it won't come up at all, which also a common occurrence. But you know, better this than nothing at all.

Some discs are not listed in databases and you do have to type out the song listing. So it looks like it read the disc, there was just no info available in the database it was looking through. It happens, type the info in.

One think I have notices is certain brand when "ripped" to the hard drive bring over the MP3 tags which Power Karaoke uses for cataloging the files, while other brands do not, and are a bigger pain.
