has anyone heard of such a thing ? I was asked about doing a show at a local bar the manager asked about my collection and if I use books .He told me that the person that used to do the karaoke show had over 35000 songs in her collection and therefore could not possibly print books just tell her what you want to sing and she will get it up . I told him that I didn't have anywhere near that many but mine are legal . he said that her's was too she had a subscription for downloads I told him that i had never heard of anything like that but I doubted that it was truly legal and weather they hire me or not I would be leery of that set up

Tricerasoft has a downlowad subscription for NEW songs (only songs that have been added recently).

It is my opinion that it is not at all easy to have 35,000 legal (English) songs by download. The major sites (Tricerasoft, SBI, Chartbuster) have far less than 30k unique songs.

As for "requests" the majority of new songs that I get requests are only made by Soundchoice if they are made at all and I only have about 10,000 unique songs (and I have nearly 200 SC disks already). Soundchoice does not have any downloads allowed at this time.

Not having a book is just a sign of a lazy KJ, and is not at all professional, and they are probably lazy about other aspects of the show as well.

Yeah, another Pirate.

When I was going to a 2 week training for my work I was in a class with another "KJ" that worked about 200 miles from where I am based out of.

Well one morning at a break in class a discussion about Karaoke started. The "KJ" said he was all digital, and when he was asked by another person where he gets his music he said he subscribe to a download service from the company he got his hosting program from. I asked him what program he used and he said Sax&Dotty's. It got really interesting when I told him, in front of everyone, that I use S&D too, and they DO NOT offer any type of download service, and that there is no legal download site for Karaoke music (this was about 4-5 years ago). Then I told him he should quit paying for his subscription, and erase his music because it is all pirated/illegal music.

Needless to say he turned about 20 shades of red, and never talked about Karaoke again for the rest of the week. Oh yeah he also stated that he had over 30,000 songs and had started his KJ business only 2 years before.
