I think there should be at least ONE Citizen Cope song. He is awesome. There should be more Zero 7 available besides Destiny. But I'm surprised there isn't at least one Citizen Cope. Maybe eventually.

I agree Diafel - Collin James ROCKS. Blue Rodeo, too. Rankins (they're probably long gone now, aren't they? I had cassettes of their stuff and I loved it.) All kinds of Canadian artists. Who's the cowboy from Alberta? Ian ______? Doggone it, my brain is fried after working all day and all night, too.

There was a Blue Rodeo disc out... Karaoke Maker... Bought that disc years ago and now I'm glad I did. Can't get the Karaoke Maker stuff anymore. They put out a few Rankin songs as well, I believe. Do you mean Ian Tyson? I'm not up on my country :(

Ian Tyson? We had a couple who are addicted to him and wanted to sing "Navajo Rug/Blankdet???" for their wedding reception. They knew it by heart so we were going to see if we could just turn one channel down on the originial but they keep putting off the party.

I'm still holding out for a bit of Dar Williams or Iris Dement. We females don't have as much to choose from these days as far as songs with actual melody, etc.

Speaking of Canadian, I always liked Lighthouse. Wish there was more of their stuff.

YES! Ian Tyson - originally of Ian and Sylvia for those who can remember that far back. Tyson is a great songwriter and singer. Wish I had the Blue Rodeo one. I have people ask me a few times a year for their stuff.

I agree, Leopard - Dar Williams and Iris Dement would be fabulous for us females. The industry is so out of balance with male versus female songs. Seems like the R&B people put out much more in the way of female songs - but most amateur singers have a hard time emulating Beyonce and Rihanna well.

A couple good rare/lesser know ones for females are: Air - All I need and: Mazzy Star - Fade into You. 2 great female songs from little know artists. There is also one by zero 7 called destiny (actually sung by Sia), but I already mentioned this one.

I agree 100 in a 55 was almost a hit. If it would have come ount in about 2004 someone would have made it for karaoke. Now it's very limited.

I feel a few Type O Negative songs need made as there is only one.

Hollywood Undead is the other I'm very suprized about.

No Shawn Phillips!! I'd like to try bright white or moonshine. Darn it. God he is a good singer. I figured there would be at least one.

Most Canadian artists don't sell enough records to justify the expense of making a karaoke track. Other artists have withdrawn or will not give permission for their songs to be used.

I believe Collin James is one example of an artist who refuses to let his songs be used.

The karaoke maker discs were discontinued because the licensing costs became too much.

The last time I was looking for their "Trooper" disc, i found one on ebay that sold for $200.

One of the downsides of Karaoke being labled an audio-visual product in North America is that the artist can ask for whatever the heck they want, instead of a set amount for compulsary licenses.

Now overseas manufacturers like Zoom don't need the artists permission, however they cater to their market, which brings us back to artists that are big in the US & Canada but will never make it to karaoke cause they aren't as big overseas.

Here is a total random artist I would like to see. Anyone ever seen any songs done by David Lindley and El Rayo X in karaoke? I never bothered to find out and never saw it in any books I have seen so far.

Artists don't matter -- songwriters do. With so many artists getting a songwriting credit these days, they may tend to have some control. But if there is no songwriting credit, they have nothing to say in the matter.

I have noticed the drop of Sugarland and rise of Lady Antebellum in karaoke popularity among women. I wonder if that is mirroring their chart success? It would be nice if refusing to license their songs for karaoke came back to bite them....

Save Ferris! If you look hard, you can find Goodbye, but most KJ's don't have it, and it's not great as far as production quality. I'd love to have the full It Means Everything album on karaoke.

I'd also like more Loreena McKennit, but, more for personal use - her stuff is pretty long for a karaoke show.
