Thinking of adding Latin section to my show. Saw 1200 songs for about some ridiculously low price on ebay. I want QUALITY tracks, not just tracks just for the sake of having them. Anyone have knowledge of the progression from best to worse manus for latin music. I would like a little of everything. Mariachi, pop, reggae, all genres. Any suggestions. I know a few of the most popular artists, but would like a compilation of everything.

I actually like the SC "Como La Flor" over any other but they aren't that known in the Latin market. Karaokanta and Tropical Zone/Latin Stars are the biggies but beware the Latin Stars teen packs as they are more midi-ish.

But it is sort of like saying, what do I buy for American Music? That really doesn't tell you if your crowd wants country, oldies, metal, pop, etc. I learned a Salsa song for someone who wanted to dance to Salsa only to be told it was "too Cuban," when they wanted more Mexican-ish. So going by actual requests will be the most economical thing to do.

There are a few on here who actually do Latin shows who will probably have better info for you. I'm just going from the experience of having bought a Latin pack to test the waters and then having nothing done from it yet getting requests for people who weren't on it (had no Luis Miguel).

That is your best bet. To the average American they all sound very similar, but there are so many sub-genres in LA music it will drive you nuts. Tropical Salsa, Cubano, etc. I worked with some Mexican radio stations a few years back and never could tell the difference between "Regional Mexican", "Tejano" & "Ranchero" music, even though I was told they are like night & day to a local.

Specific genres aside, (Tejano, Cubano, Mariachi, Salsa, etc.), does anyone know which MANUFACTURER is better. I can figure out which type to buy, and which artists, but I wouldn't want to end up with the right song, but WORST version.

Again, Karaokanta and Tropical Zone/Latin Stars for our area.

You can go to a site that has snippets for preview (Ace is one that comes to mind) and check out the differences in manufacturers yourself. Ace has a large Latin selection.

I have a couple of Viva Fiesta Latina discs which sound ok for mariachi. Some of the Pioneer Lasers have good mariachi too.

There used to be a Hispanic oriented DJ equipment store near me who also carried a fairly large selection of Spanish Karaoke. While he carried a number of different brands, the two he had the most of and recommended the most were Karaokanta and Multi Karaoke. Both companies are pushing 400 discs in their libraries, and my singers have been happy with everything I've gotten from them so far.

Not happy to say, but if SC has it... it is usually the best version. I would Rank TZ right below them and then Karaokanta, I dont think the spanish singing croud is as picky when it comes to manus as some of the english singers.

but the same song in spanish can have a Banda version, salsa version, Mariachi version and then the traditional version. That they care about.

Most of the places I frequent do about 50/50 spanish/english, with spanish rok getting most of the spanish action.

ACE karaoke has a good selection from all makers and they allow you to do a band/song specific search. I usually search online and print it out... they usually honor the online price.

I did a couple Mexican/Latino places for a while & Tropical Zones were the preferred brands there, musically they seemed great, I couldn't tell you about the words/swipes lol. But didn/t have any complaints.

Tropical Zone, from what my Hispanic singers tell me, is the top quality mfr. out there.....

SC's latin tracks are almost as bad as MM's.
