Don't ANY of you want to have this forum go back to a place where we can socialize, and talk about the POSITIVE aspects of our shows, or the INTERESTING things that happen at our shows. START YOUR OWN THREAD, and title it ANOTHER PIRATE THREAD, so the rest of us know not to go there. I personally am at the point of :puke: whenever the subject comes up. I am really disappointed that SOOO much talent is being reduced to an ONGOING debate that NOBODY will solve on this FORUM. My two cents, :vomit: Thanks for listening. I second that. Thing is, we all know everyone's stance on these subjects so I think it is safe to say, until some landmark court decision descends on the karaoke world, no amount of discussion is going to change anyone's idea. Just do your show the best way you know how, continue to invest in music, drool over the newest equipment, post interesting things that have happened in the field (besides piracy issues) or at your show. Got a way to increase your attendance? By all means, share that. I despise what "P" has done to this business and especially to the manufacturers, but let's just make a deal to cease and desist already on the "P" subject already. Anybody that feels they don't know enough about it can go back through the archives and read up if they choose. No need to continually offer "refreshers."

I agree. Let's be done with it -- it is poisoning this forum.

Went to Best Buy to do a little browsing and saw that they carry All Star Karaoke. There was even a case you could buy that allowed you to go to All Star's site to have them make you a special disc I think it was up to 15 songs and I don't remember the price.

Best Buy also carried lots of Disney stuff.

The custom disc link on the All Star Karaoke website links to Karaoke Warehouse to provide custom discs. $1.99 per song.

I have a few AllStar Karaoke discs. Being in a rural area we don't have a lot of sources for decent stuff and the nearest location to get SC or CB is an hour away. For the most part they're pretty decent. Every once in a while you'll get one that has a midi kind of sound to it or the background vocals aren't that great, but definitely better than the Party Time stuff also available locally.

Unless you don't have mail service, why aren't you ordering on-line? I haven't been in a CDG store for years.

Same here. Online is usually cheaper as well & if you buy more than a certain amount $$ (which is not usually a problem when doing a disc buy), shipping is usually free.
I'm all for supporting local vendors, however, when a company on a budget has the choice to buy a disc for $30 in the local brick & mortar and they cannot/won't match - or spend $10-15 online, have to go with the business decision for saving money.

I had 4 discs like that ( with just stars ) and all are counterfeit EMI.

What facts are you basing that statement on?

1) I own them

2) The cases said EMI

The case? What does that have to do with anything?

I am not aware of any karaoke manufacturer EMI. I am aware of EMI, the British record label (The Beatles, Pink Floyd, and many, many others).

3) They aren't - I checked. Also no mfr. code around center hole.

Checked what? You can't have checked. EMI doesn't exist -- there is nothing to

check against.

Old discs, Mick, way before you hired someone to host for you.....made before most currently known brands existed.

EMI is a record label and they do make karaoke of their artists, but for Asian market. I am fairly sure I have a few of their karaoke VCDs. I don't know if they make CDG.

They did, don't know if they still do. When I got them ( at the time when CD+G were just coming out - and yes, I have genuine EMI discs as well) they were one of a very few existing brands.

Whoever they market All Stars too, I like them. I don't much like the color scheme, but they sound just fine and best of all they use count in bars ala Sound Choice!! The only bad thing is it they are slow to cover the newer stuff.

You're right, All Star was Top Tunes attempt to survive... that's why you'll find most of their tracks on old Top Tunes disk  And BTW, the quality was good enough for pro KJ use, not just for home

Top Tunes DID survive- see Karaoke Bay

Where did you get this  Top Tunes became All Star Karaoke and Karaoke Bay is something else, most of their backing came from Pocket Song with higher output :!:

Wrong- but thanks for playing. They are Karaoke Bay. What is it with you, Mick? I bring up a mixer, you disagree. A mic? same thing. Rotation? Of course.

Mick, I don't know your problem, and don't care, but I know what you are. A singer who wants to sing, so started "hosting" shows by hiring a host. This way you can tell him/her to put you up next.

I've been a Karaoke Host since tape and lyric sheet days, as well as an EE ( Electronics Engineering) degree, an ET ( Electronics Technology) degree, and a Business Degree.

Like me or not, why not get another hobby?

Joe, sorry but I'm afraid you are confusing me with another Mouse  I don't recall commenting on any of the subject you described, I only have a different opinion about Karaoke Bay brand, that's all
