To the best of my knowledge, Collin James still wrote all of his own songs so he can still tell the karaoke producers here to take a hike. :)

anyway you are still correct because its the lyrics that are making everything so difficult right now

Actually it doesn't matter who wrote or sang a song. It's the copyright holder's decision. Remember when the Beatle's library was bought by Michael Jackson? Once Michael gained control, it was up to him who could use the songs or not and not the member of The Beatles.

As foKaraokemaker, yes the people holding the licences raised their rates 5x according to Neil Meckelburg (sp). He also stated that he'd been to many shows where illegal copies were being used both factors when he decided to stop manufacturing.

We had Trooper at one of our shows and they thought Karaokemaker's disc was fantastic and wanted a copy. Unfortunately they were sold out (they went quick). When I told them of the licencing problem, they stated they had no control over their songs.

OK i stand corrected again.

Of course, I had always assumed that in the majority of cases the copyrights were owned by the artist/songwriter or their family.

I knew this wasn't the case for most people who were famous in the 50's and 60's but I didn't know it was still a problem today.

Save Ferris! If you look hard, you can find Goodbye, but most KJ's don't have it, and it's not great as far as production quality. I'd love to have the full It Means Everything album on karaoke.

I'd also like more Loreena McKennit, but, more for personal use - her stuff is pretty long for a karaoke show.

Mummer's Dance is a fave of mine...and the chorus always surprises the crowd because the melody is in the stratosphere....Love it!

Oh yes, I have that...what I really want is Bonnie Swans, Lady of Shalot (WAY too long for karaoke night), The Highwayman (again, WAY too long), The Old Ways....well, just about anything off of the live from Paris and Toronto disc...*laugh*
