I am having a problem with Karma giving me a message that reads : THE REQUESTED OPERATION CANNOT PERFORM ON FILE WITH A USER MAPPED SECTION OPEN "I have been using Karma for about 2 years on 2 different computers and only recently have I got this message and only on one of my systems.I can play a song from the menu but if I try to play from the singer rotation it does this and will not let you play the song. All my files are zipped on both systems and has never been a problem .I have updated Karma and it was no help.I may remove from that system and reload but before I do I would like to know if anyone else has had this problem
Thanks,
nburch

Tried Latshaw and was told I probably needed to unzip the files, seems I would have had problems for the past two years if that was the case.I will wait a couple of days to see if I get a response and if I dont I will reinstall and post how that goes.

Are you running AVG virus software on your computer? It has been noted that it can cause this problem.
If you are not what I would do is delete Karma and don't forget to delete Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistribute (done through the control page and add or remove programs) then download Karma again and it will reinstall C++.
If you are running AVG delete it and try Karma again.
I don't think unzipping will help. I run Karma and all my files are zipped.
You could try unzipping a few and try to see if it makes a difference.

I use to run AVG on my computers (except the laptop) and I noticed it slowed down even my fastest computer as it checks everything you do, every time you open a different folder, run a program that you could have had for years it checks it. Finally got rid of it now computers are back up to speed.

I switched from AVG to AVAST a year or more ago at the suggestion of Morgan Lafey here at Karaoke Scene and as much as I liked AVG and THOUGHT it was the best, I found out AVAST is better. It doesn't let anything get through and it doesn't seem to low the computer down at all. I have not had any problems with viruses or Trojans since I switched. AVAST works FAR BETTER than Norton or Mcafee. I would never use either one.
If there is a conflict between the antivirus and an application program like Karma, it's pretty simple and easy to just deactivate the internet and shut the antivirus program down during a Karaoke show. Although, I don't know for sure that doing that would alleviate the conflict with Karma since I don't use it.
