list, as I have stated before we have just started a karaoke show and now we are going to be updating and adding music. 'the best way i think is to just take request and if we don't have them then we tell them we will have them next week.

I would like to add some more bulk music and improve the book some but how would a person go about doing this. We have a large SGB set and so we can find list with all the songs on them and that is all fine but how does a person go about cross checking them with some other set that might be and addition to the music...was thinking of the sound choice digital mp3g's when they come out.

My problem is money so would probably want to start with there sets that are around $300 or so but what I don't want is a complete bunch of dupes but how does a person check this?

With the program I use it does not support book making but you can select all and then export it to a data base and it will show up as artist and title. Anyone know how to copy a list online and then do the same thing then I could go down one at a time and just look from the top down and get a good idea.

Any thoughts would be much appreciated.

THe problem is that with whatever format you have, any new additions will probably be in a slightly different format for artists and song names.

If you for example have a list of all the SGB tracks and want to compare it to the tracks from the future SC gem sets, then the only way to do it is to convert the files so the artists/songs are written the same way.

The only way to do this for free is spend a lot of time sorting and manually editing.

Otherwise KJ pro and Song Book deluxe have many songs in the same name formats and comparing is a bit easier. BUT these programs cost a bit.

Fast Tracks will also tell you what dupes you might have. The GEM series isn't listed yet so comparing will only work if you know what format they use.

Well you can tell them that all you want, unles you are diligant & buy a few requested songs per custom disc (still the best way), you are wating money IMO. Wait until you have at least enough songs to fill an enitre disc (14-17 songs). Plus not all requested songs are even available on karaoke, so just put out a request sheet with all songs written down, who requests them & see what is actually available & get accordingly, never promise, only say you will try!

I will say that even if you duplicate the entire list of SGB, you are getting better versions 99 out of 100 songs! But to go cross checking is where a little time comes in, look at the list you are looking at and actually compare it to what you actually have.

Again cross reference any list to what you currently own manually, again chances are if it's going against the SGB set, you are getting a better version 9 out of 10 times.

Either get a karaoke software that supprts book making (MTU Hoster - yes im biased) or just get a separate book making program that you just enter the discs & print a book.

Thanks for the replies,

Yes..that is the way I had it figured that if I did double some I would probably end up with a better version.

Again, thanks for the answers and no I don't need a hard drive full of tracks off ebay.

If you have $300 to spend, do yourself a favor and buy the SC Foundation I. This will give you great versions of the most popular classic karaoke songs. You are going to get requests for Love Shack, Sweet Caroline, Hit Me With Your Best Shot, White Wedding, etc. It is great to have outstanding versions of those songs. It ups your show quality greatly right off the bat.

Gotta agree here, while we all bash SC recently, we also all (or at least most) would say the Foundation is one of, if not the best investment(s).

And karaoke.com have them at a killer price right now. Thinking about picking up both 1 & 2 for a possible start for a mobile system that i've been piecing together.

Keep in mind that the songs listed as being on those sets are not accurate. SC has cut and replaced many of the artists (such as Garth Brooks, AC/DC, ETC.) So, whats liisted on Karaoke.com is not what you're going to get.
