He was diagnosed with terminal cancer. The prognosis was that with chemo, he had about 6 months, he decided to forego further treatment.

As I understand, it was a recurrence of a previous cancer so he knew what he was up against. So, so very sad for his family. Definitely larger than life. I went to his show once.

Very sorry to hear about Dan.
Although many here had disagreements with him on KS subjects, he was always active on the boards and offered useful advice to newbies or those that needed some help.
I suspect the REAL reason he stepped away from his gig at the Little Red Hen was because of finding out about his condition.
In any event he was able to do what he loved--KJ'ing/Karaokeing to pretty much the end.
