The UPS man delivered the GEMS just a few moments ago. Here is your first look.
(I didn't upload the pictures due to forum size restrictions)
Diamond, Sapphire & Emerald Every set was on it's own "Cake Box" spool, no sleeves. http://i31.tinypic.com/jv4ykp.jpg
Disc 10001 up close The disc is factory pressed (not burned) and screen printed. Every disc has a security sticker bearing a unique number. http://i25.tinypic.com/o6lilu.jpg
Security Sticker The sticker is the one use kind that if you remove leaves "VOID" residue. http://i28.tinypic.com/ndaft0.jpg
A rainbow of colors Every disc is printed in a different color and unique pattern, most likely to thwart counterfeiting. http://i27.tinypic.com/2hebyc0.jpg
Proof of License Stickers Included in the document package with the executed agreement were nine stickers corresponding to the nine disc spools. Also in the pack was a document detailing the serial numbers of every disc set. http://i30.tinypic.com/2rr9dax.jpg
Utility Disc In a separate sleeve was a GEM Utility Disc. It contains the excel spreadsheet files of all the GEM sets that are posted on the SC website. It also contains the perennial Sound Choice KJ "songs" we have seen before in the Foundations. (ie: "Show Starts in 20 Minutes", etc). http://i26.tinypic.com/of37h5.jpg
Disc File Structure The file structure of the disc is that of a typical data disc. http://i32.tinypic.com/2s8pflw.jpg
MP3 Tags The MP3's are 320kbps and have basic ID3 tags. Title, Artist, Genre & Year. http://i31.tinypic.com/309lute.jpg
Blue Logo The songs have a Blue Sound Choice logo during the open as opposed to the standard red. http://i29.tinypic.com/33mssi9.jpg
More later.....

Cool. My question is what stops a pirate from uploading them?

Thanks for taking the time to post that cool stuff Bazaa.
Is this the complete series and how much, if you don't mind saying, did it set you back all together?

What is the replacement policy on this set? Broken or lost discs?

IMHO: The gem series is nothing more than a rental. I've read the contract, it requires that you provide to them "accounting records" whenever they want them and a whole host of other provisions that might make you laugh.
Not trying to burst Bazza's bubble - he knows my opinion on the matter already.

...yes, yes you wont let us forget. And if you go by the letter of the agreement, you are correct, as it is a licensing agreement, IE: a lease, IE: a "rental". But unlike the negative image you wish to portray with your choice of words, this is a "rental" that stays in my possession forever for less than $33 a year after five years (20 minutes of work at my rate), and that's IF they even charge me for it.
Geez dude, your fear mongering is getting tired. You are really trying to spread the F.U.D. far and wide. Why is that anyway? Why do you care so much?
Oh..and you can't burst my bubble. I now have 6000 of the BEST songs in my rig, at 320kbps for an incredible price!

Thanks for the pics... continues to make everything more tempting! I'd need to rename the tracks when uplifted to my HD (I have each disc in it's own folder then each track starts with just the two digit track number) but BulkRenameUtility would handle that in about the time it takes to read this posting.
The discs are leased, who cares, they have the songs I want that I can't get any other way. I'm assuming the $100 every three years covers all 9 sets.
Thanks again,
Jonn

Sorry, can't resist this... haven't you broken terms of license by broadcasting the SC logo over the net?

Yeah either I change the names or I have to change players as the one I use now does not read mp3TAGS. gotta get rid of the underscores.

To the best of my knowledge, each set is traceable. The ONLY way to obtain the gem series is to order it directly thru soundchoice, so there is only one way for them to be uplaoded, and that is thru the original purchaser.
No one in their right mind would willingly violate the agreement that you have to sign in order to obtain the discs.

yes Kurt has confirmed on a different forum that the $100 fee covers all 9 sets plus any other discs or sets if they start realeasing new music under the gem series or mp3+g format.

Well, it wasn't the product. Just a screenshot of the product in order to conduct my "review".
I will let you know if the police show up in my yard with a megaphone, ordering me to come out with my hands in the air.

can't rename without leaving the disc number and the track number as is. You can remove the underscores and zip them though. Spent the day playing phone tag with chris from Sound Choice today.

Sort of off the subject but the customer service we have always gotten from Chris and Martha at Sound Choice is another reason I would like to see them stay around. Those two have always been extremely friendly and helpful to us on the rare times we have had to resolve an issue. Sounds like things must really be hopping there now if you had to play pnone tag.
