:?: My old lappy is starting to act funky and I am worried it will go kaput and I'll lose all my music and programs. I have MTU Hoster installed. Is there anyway to transfer my stuff into storage so I can upload on a new computer? Guess I will lose the lyric display Huh? I still have most of my CDG's but a lot of music I have I bought online. What about the program it's self? Will MTU give me another copy without paying?

Lonman or Karen might better answer this question as they have Hoster.

I use MTU Hoster and I have transferred it several times in the past. Here is what I did.

I have all my songs in a single folder. I have ripped all my CD+G and have not purchased any online but I believe the procedure is the same. I copied the folder with the songs to another external drive (much faster than using my NAS). If you are using the latest version of the Hoster or Hoster Lite Duo (not Hoster Lite), you can install it on two machines. I usually use the second license to install to the new machine. Otherwise, you have to run the Hoster Installer and deactivate the license by uninstalling the program and install it on the new machine with the serial number. That will reactivate the license.

After the Hoster is installed in the new machine, I copy over the folder with the songs. Then inside the Hoster, you can rebuild the database on the entire folder and you are good to go.

I just found a page on MTU's web site on how to do transfer license here. Good luck.

Link the two computers through a network cable. Set up a LAN so you can share files between the two computers. Set your karaoke file directory (main one) to share and specify sharing of sub-directories.

Then goo to Latshaw's product page and get file synchronizer. It's a free program. Go to your new computer and run the program. File #1 should be the directory on you old computer with the karaoke files. File #2 would be the same directory on the new computer (you'll need to create it.

When you run the program, specify that you want to synchronize so both directories have all the same files and run the start. When done, both computers will have identical files.

Works for updating when you add new files for backup purposes.

With Hoster you will need to uninstall the program via Ebans link.
