OK, so it's obvious that Zoom is the preferred brand of the english manufactures. So, the next question is:
Would you buy Zoom over Sound Choice? Chartbuster? or any other american manufacturer?
Would you consider the Zoom's quality superior or inferior or equal to Sound Choice, Chartbuster, etc.?
This is interesting.

If Sound Choice was an option, for the most part I would still choose it over Zoom or Chartbuster. I think Zoom is pretty good, but IMO not as good overall - at least in a musical standpoint to SC or CB. So if I were to stay 'brand loyal' SC would still get my vote. That being said, I don't necessarily stay with one brand, I do a little research to try to find the best version I can and whoever has it, gets the business for the most part. And these days it seems the UK manus are getting alot of the single request songs I purchase.

I still like soundchoice quite a bit. I haven't bought a lot of soundchoice tracks primarily due to price.
Had I actually known what I do now, I would have bought both foundations and the bricks over the chartbuster 1-6 I bought when I first started out.
What I try to now is buy the version I like best after listening to it.
So to answer the question, quality wise I would say that soundchoice is on par with zoom and in some cases, slightly superior

I'm just a singer. I have one Zoom disc and it's great--their Eagle's disc. I'm still waiting for Zoom to do my Wings Over America Live karaoke cdg (cough cough ahem). Obviously they don't see the goldmine of opportunity they are sitting on.
I wish Monster were still creating discs. They had some pretty solid cdg's IMHO. And I have one of Legends last cdg's, I believe, the Boz Scaggs one that is pretty good also.

I would buy anything else other than SC.
Having said that, I am more or less like Lonman. The manu with the best version generally gets my business. I also find it hard to pass up a good deal, so often I will buy what's on sale. I've recently bought some Karaoke Kurrents and I'm pleasantly pleased with them. I am not really brand loyal, but as has been stated here many times over, some are better than others.

I'm a bargain whore, and I buy largely based on price.
If I had deep pockets and was doing mostly wedding work 4 nights a week, i'd have wall to wall soundchoice.. but I generally go with what is passable and least expensive.
I've got a little bit of everything in my library.. soundchoice, chartbuster, legends, zoom, sunfly, soundcore, pioneer, music maestro, SBI, and probably a few others that slip my mind at the moment.

I prefer the original version done by the artist either studio recording or live.

I prefer CB for country. SC has been a little sketchy for me. Something just seems off.????

Yeah i'd need to see some sort of proof on that one before I even half believed it.

Yes I knew SC stopped their custom discs with their own tracks about a year or so ago because they sold their tracks to Stingray. The have contracted with an Austrailian comapny to continue custom discs until they reaquire the rights to do so with their own tracks again.
I still don't see the proof.

I totally understand why you feel that way, and I can't blame you. However, SC makes some of the best versions, period. Especially when it comes to pop/rock.
Chartbuster is good for country and that's it, although their newer stuff has been much better lately.
Secondly, I won't buy their Gem series. For what they put you through to buy a product (that you don't even own, it's like you're leasing it, with all the BS stipulations) is incredible. If you buy the Gem series, you agree to let them run your life. wow. So I do understand your feelings.
And I also want the best version of a song, and if it's SC, I'll seek out the disk it's on and buy that but not the Gem.

Out of curiosity.. why would a person buy anything else BUT Sound Choice?
I mean.. I know their discs tend to be pricey.. but besides that.. why?

first: Lonman
i may be mis-interpreting this whole thing. i will continue to look, but i may be wrong. however you gotta admit, the abraxa tracks look, and sound identical to the SC versions. what that means, i have no idea, but it is rather intriguing.
and i wanted to were something nice on my first day posting, but apparently all i had in the closet was egg
second: cheese
SC made good stuff, but everyone has their strengths, and sometimes someone else does some songs better. case in point.....radio starz garth brooks, where did THAT gem come from? also, what about songs SC never did but zoom does? gotta give credit to Zoom and Sunfly both for stepping up their quality massively in the last few years.
i think whoever does what songs i need the best, gets my money.

I probably haven't seen enough of the Zoom to know for sure. I have their Eagles disc and like it, but I tend to prefer Sound Choice over other brands.

Soundchoice and Zoom on an even keel, then Chartbuster, (except for country), then Chartbuster first. I also like Pocket Songs, Top Tunes, Sunfly, some SGB, also Mr Entertainer, although I haven't seen too much by them. ALOT of trial and error, each have their GEMS, and each have their CLUNKERS. I think I could live with a good supply of Sonud Choice, Zoom, and Chartbuster if I could only pick three. But I do think I'd be missing out on alot. That's why I like visiting other shows, you never know when a GEM is going to pop up on the screen, and then, there you go, searching the net to find and purchase MORE music. I love finding those rare gems.
