In town for business those two night. Gonna go to the coast and fish in between.

Where are some good spots to hang out on those nights?

Anyone interested in meeting up?

Kurt and Flipper took me out when I came last month. We went to the Ambassador, which is a nice club (with good Chinese food) not too far from the airport. Two karaoke stages, 7 nights. Downtown is the Galaxy, run by the same outfit.

I went there with them when I was in town last time. I'm looking for something closer to Park and Alder, if possible, so I don't have to drive.

The Galaxy is only 1.6 miles:

Only place down town that comes to mnd is The Boilerroom on SW 4th. I dont go downtown for karaoke tho--parking is horrendous. You can take a cab if you like.

Well, I never read here much any more... and I would have joined you all, but Kurt left me a voice mail message about the BBQ/Karaoke about... 2 hours ahead of time.

(he said it was "a little bit last minute")

Hope to see you all share pics if you got some.

What I SAID, MY DEAR was that "I'm Sorry it's such short notice".

Yes, it was with only about 2 hours notice as that was all the notice and confirmation I had received as GRIF had been out Salmon Fishing on the Columbia River out near Astoria and Ilwaco, Washington all day before he got back to Portland.

But then I never got a RETURN phone call from you, Charm saying if you could or couldn't make it. The idea being that you come see us instead of going to the usual night out at DENNY's for Karaoke in Canby.

And yes we had a nice fun karaoke party----Gryf and 3 of his work friends came, Linda(Mrs. Swingcat), our son Richie and our dog "Sunny" and Scott(Flipper) came abut 830 pm and all stayed until midnight in my Basement Blues Bar. Bar-B-Que, caprese salad and regular salad were all served. Non-stop Karaoke and blues/swing filler music were played, the disco ball, spotlights and traffic signal(yes a real one) were all lit up and pool was played! In otherwords a GOOD TIME WAS HAD BY ALL!!.

Saturday morning I took Gryf Sturgeon fishing on the Willamette River in downtown Portland from 7am to 11am. But the fish were not biting--so we didnt catch squat!!

So it was a SUCCESSFUL VISIT.

But Charm---YOU KNOW that if I'd had earlier confirmation I WOULD HAVE TOLD YOU SOONER.

Sometimes things have to be played by ear and on the fly and you have to be flexible and ready to roll on short notice.

Fotos to follow.

Didn't do karaoke at all friday, Kurt, had other musical plans I couldn't flake out on.

Call me next time. And, clear your phone of voicemails so that when someone does call you back and you don't answer... we can leave you a message.

Glad you all had fun. I'm busy getting my new music room all dolled up- I just moved back out of town, (on a few acres, where we can make some noise), so will soon be having a get together at my place, you and all the locals will be invited of course. (and I'll let ya know at least a week in advance) lol Make sure Mrs. Swingcat comes this time!

Sokay my dear. It really is my fault he didn't have more notice. I didn't get connectivity until I got back to Portland on Friday in the late afternoon. I was unable to find an internet connection in the thriving port of Ilwaco but I did meet some very interesting folks out that way. Sorry we missed you.

I will say that Mr and Mrs Swingcat are fantastic hosts and I can't thank them enough for opening their home to my coworkers and I. We sang our hearts out, busted three cherryokes and had a fantastic time. I highly recommend accepting any invite Singcat throws out there.

Thanks again Kurt!

As Ive told you before--------------I HAVE A NEW CELL PHONE that stores messages easily, so that problem has been solved since about June.

And I had it sitting right on top of my desk or in my pocket all evening long so I wouldnt miss any calls.

But no call came.

But it seems to be a recurring theme about trying to get you to come up this way to participate in these meet-ups.

Been trying LITERALLY FOR YEARS NOW to get you to come out and meet up.

But I will keep trying.

MCKYJ may be coming back through again so maybe that can work out or maybe not.

Do what you will.

The FOOD was a big hit------------LINDA really went out of her way to whip up a nice feed with literally NO NOTICE!

There was only a couple spoons of salad and two pitiful looking chicken legs left over!!
:D

And I did an amazing short notice house cleaning, funiture moving and sweeping to get the place ready in 2 hours!

But the main thing is that Gryf and Co had a great time and didnt have to go spend a bunch of money at an expensive bar and only sing 3 or 4 songs for the evening or go driving all over kingdom come..

Sorry I couldnt pull a 5-foot long Sturgeon out of my AZZZ for the morning fishing---but there are some things that are out of even MY CONTROL!!

Oh and SCOTT (FLIPPER) has dibs on the next house party.

He wants it as HIS NEW HOUSE that he just built.

So HE's next in line for our KARAOKE MOVABLE FEAST.

I'm going to try to put something together within the next month as many of my karaoke friends not only want to see then new digs but it would be a good time to pull in some of the local KS pals.

Hey Charm....dang it....one of these days we are going to meet up with you. We have had plenty of opportunities but it looks like we may have to resort to a stick of dynamite to separate you from Canbytown....LOL

Just for the record Swingcat's voicemail worked several times during our phone exchanges setting this up and getting the times straight and all. You can always call me and I can get you up to speed on what is happening with these little get togethers as I'm usually in the loop.

It was short notice but it turned out to be a fine outing at Swingcat's watering hole. Hell we even broke a few karaoke cherries in the process as a couple of guys that were with Gryf had never sang karaoke before. As per normal I'm sure they are now HOOKED.

We got a bit of a late start but we made up for it by singing late. By the way guys I was going to visit you on the river the next day as I was planning on fishing that area the next morning, however I had a bit too much Hooch at our little get together and I did not roll out of bed until about noon...LOL So I ended up not going at all.

It was good to see Gryf again and everyone had a good time.

Thanks for the invite Swingcat!

Keep me appraised of the situation, date, time, etc.

Oh and for the RECORD:............... I was down was in CANBY LAST NIGHT.
Has to go do a story in Oregon City so I popped down there afterwards about 11:30 to both Denny's and Spinning Wheel to see if the ELUSIVE CHARMIN was out at either..........but alas no joy!!

Oh well.............................
