I was playing a gig the other night and all of a sudden my laptop cut in and out while getting error " display driver atikmdag stopped responding and has successfully recovered". Has anyone else gotten this? Got a wedding to do in a month and don't want this happening then. Thanks in advance for any insight about this.

I'm not familure with your particular error, but suspect you'll have to provide more information about your hardware and software configuration before anyone could provide an intelligent answer.
What kind of laptop are you using? (Make/Model) What OS are you running? What hosting/player program are you running? Have you recently added/changed any hardware or software on the system?

Interesting link. A bunch of people stabbing round in the dark with all kinds of strange fixes. Had the same error on several PCs here at work. New driver fixes it. The driver for your 64 bit Vista is here..

Thanks for the replies. Tim_aka_Tim, which option would I download? I would assume it would be option 1 or 2 but want to make sure. Thanks.

You need option 1. Option 2 will not install a new driver. The instructions say to me that it will try and verify that your laptop supports the driver before allowing it to install. The installation file is very small because it is a different method to normal desktop graphics installs. See how you go with that, if it won't install, then come back to us - you'll need the HP version.
Laptop graphics are different to desktop graphics cards. Manufacturers often include their own features in the bios to make it work better in their laptop. This renders the generic driver useless, forcing you to use the manufacturer driver - which may be older than the generic one.
