Mickey I had that stand and loved it. I had a problem with it breaking. Guitar Center would replace it for free at first then they stopped, so I went back to the old standard weighted base. They seem to withstand a lot more use. I don't like when people pick up the stand, so I stopped using the tripod stand yrs ago. I can't tell you how many stands I've been through and fixed.

I don't use mic stands for the singers. I keep 2 wireless SM58's on my monitor stand and hand out 2 wireless nady's for group singing. My announcing mic is on a desktop stand.

2 Stands for 2 mics here. As a singer, I prefer a stand.

Mic stands are sometimes part of a performer's stage presence. I provide one straight stand and one or two booms in front of barstools, which get moved around of course. This way the singers can use whatever stand/stool configuration they prefer, use the straight stand if they do not sit while singing, or they can just pull the mic off the stand.

Sure, they do drop the mics and break the clips sometimes; and I go through boom parts as they tear up the clutches by adjusting them with brute force instead of doing it the right way; but these are costs of doing business. Mic clips are $4, and I don't bother repairing the broken clutches, I either piece working ones together from ones that are partially broken, or I buy new ones at 6 for $100. Not worth the time to repair them at that price, and I have found that karaoke singers can tear up any kind of mic stand you offer them, even Atlas and K&M; so I buy the cheapest.

I provide: (2) Stands...(2) Wired Mics

I prefer a stand, when singing at other shows...unless is a real upbeat/hip-hop type of song.

Three 58s on stands...one for me, two for the singers. I always hold my mic. I use a lot of dynamics when singing and it is much easier to pull the mic away from my mouth than it is to pull my head away from the mic on a stand. Personal preference.

Have just got a pair of Hercules MS205B's.
Like them. Cast base.
Hight adjustment is with one hand.
I know that will improve things
but they never knew what to do with butterfly mic. clips last time I used them.
I tell them open it like a clothes peg.
Maybe it's being the focus of attention that gets to them.

Then you get some singers that can hold a conversation while singing.
