I have a friend in the same area who cleans up on techno DJ Rave stuff. His shows are packed. It isn't my type thing but sometimes I wonder if the bars don't lose the young people because the bars want to stay stuck in time and once the oldtimers are gone, there is no one to take their place.

Would it be possible to have one night of that stuff where you are
or would you need to get the music to go with it.

Midweek when there is not many in.

We were discussing the old vs new thing just last night. Many of the oldtimers decry the loss of the old days and say it isn't the same old crowd anymore who used to party until 4 a.m. But that crowd has lost their party stamina. They leave at 10 to go home to bed. Yet they don't want to change anything that might bring in a younger crowd.

Evidently many females are put off by the girlie posters, the bras hanging from the ceiling and the singing boobs. (Think singing bass). I just laugh at it. The few females who come in say it is actually the one bar where they feel safe to come in alone. But more are scared off, evidently. We talked about how cleaning up the image and offering some yuppie type stuff might improve things but I think it is a sacred temple that can't be altered. All complain, no change.

We take a bit of flak for being too wild. That Zac Brown stuff IS pretty radical.......

Mr. Reverb ... once again, I take great comfort in the fact that you are indeed paying attention to the conversation...funny how when one drops a pair of panties into a conversation, everyone rises to the occasion.

There was an American sociologist who wrote a book called "Bowling Alone" a few years ago. American social life in general is on the decline and technology is hastening the decline. Now people can stay at home and talk to people all over the world on the computer instead of going out locally. It's good and bad I guess.... you can meet a lot more other people who share exactly the same interests you do which is wonderful, but there is something to be said for having a friend who can come over and help you if you need it.

Well said.

The DUI is a part of it. I know from personal experience. I can't go to a bar and have 1 beer. I like to have 4 or 5 and that's what got me in trouble. (Not when I'm hosting.) It hurts for a very VERY long time.
Riding a bike well at least get you out of a DUI (researched this) but can get you a public intox. However, I did used to ride my bike once every couple weeks out and then take the bike path home. Ok when the weather is nice. Anyway, the threat of a DUI does play a part.

Cheaper to drink at home, can smoke at home (no I don't smoke anymore), no DUIs at home. This takes a big bite out of bar revenue, doesn't squash it but cripples it overall.

DUI has a big impact on us, also. Even the people who don't drink and drive don't want to come out if it means being pulled over every time. The sheriff has even stopped people who thought they were doing the right thing by walking home. And my brother once got in the paper for getting a ticket for "peddling while pickled." But I think he hit a pole or something.

We were talking about this last week when a DUI checkpoint pretty much cancelled our show for the night. The laws aren't going away. We are thinking bars will have to start running their own shuttles or something to stay in business.

Oh--Johnny R--do you recall when Gemini announced his annual edible underwear event at his bar? I guess I do. At least I think I do.

Mr. R, I believe that makes you 100% real male. I have carefully and painstakingly taught all the male relatives that hang from my family tree how to choose and wear only the finest of the female undergarment known as "panties." It certainly elevates them in the eyes of their fraternal brothers, and if anyone is in need of uplifting conversation, it can be certainly be found coming from the mouth of someone sporting a G-string on their head.

After some of his initial posts, I tried to steer clear of his opinions, so I'd have to say I missed that one......but regardless, it's much more fun eating real ones, as edible panties go down much to quickly.....and I like to make the enjoyment last as long as possible......which is hard to do now that I got the new teeth...... :)

One time(at band camp), I shaved my head, and put an E,B,G,D,F and a lower E string on my head. I walked up to a real hot lady, and asked her if she wanted to play me. She looked right into my eyes, didn't even crack a smile, and replied, that she prefered percussion, and with the force of a Nolan Ryan fast ball....she proceeded to kick me in the nuts. Now I haven't been able to sing any Johnny Cash, or ride a Harley since then.....but I do manage some frankie Vallie, or Lou Christie without too much effort.........fancy that...... :)
