I was considering buying one of those for a while now. 2 days ago I found a really good deal on ebay ($220) and clicked on Buy It Now. Just came in today and it really does look great. Can't wait to try it out tomorrow

Wait til you use it at your show, the people love them. I haven't let anyone use mine (copy of the 55), but I'm always getting compliments about how cool it looks. I bought a metal windscreen that hooks on to the mic stand, REALLY looks cool. These kind of things really add to the show. Nice mic.

I used to have one & had to give a lesson how almost every time . Everyone grabbed it and tried singing into the top of the thing. Finally sold it to an Elvis impersonator.

That is a really good looking microphone.
As for lessons on microphone usage, I have to give people lessons everytime even with a conventional microphone.
1. Do not cup the mic
2. Do not hold it a meter away tell me that it isn't working
3. Please do not bang on the mic to check if it is working
4. If you scream like an idiot - you will get turned OFF.
5. My all time favourite - It works if you SWITCH ON! Up is ON! On is UP!
Can't imagine what my life would be with one of these, although I would love to have one.

Here's the picture of my Super Shure 55 Elvis mic. I got it at ebay 4 years ago from a guy who specializes is modifying this mic. First, took mic apart, get the body dipped in gold metal plating, then took the original mic element and replace it with a Beta58 element. The sound is phenomenal. Sounds better than the actual handheld wireless Beta58. Rich tone and high gain before feedback. I just have to remember to replace the battery inside, a 1.5v size N every 6 months. I don't know what the battery is for. Paid $600 and it's well worth the money.

Ooops, I cannot get the picture to attach to my post. Darn, let me try this again. This is gonna be a learning process. I use the "add an attachment" feature but nothing happened. Kinda late. I'll try again tomorrow. Sorry.

I hang a visual below my monitor screen on how to hold the mic with bullet #1 "Do not cover the ball. All my mics have on/off switches, I prefer it for home and private use but I place tape over the swtich in the on position before my shows.
