if the bar owners want to be greedy, let them get someone else.
Hi POT this is KETTLE!
The bar wants to be greedy, sound's like the karaoke/dj company is the one wanting to be greedy! Pay me more because YOU are getting more. But if they want to pay you less because THEY are getting less, you would THROW A FIT!
This is what I've been thinking. We all say it about the bars that want to try and pay us less on dead nights, "Well I don't get paid more when you do better". So ok if that's the case, why would you expect them to pay you more.
Timberlea, in the US anyway, I don't know that you can say "most" workers get time and a half or better. Hourly workers do, salary workers don't get paid anything additional in most cases. However, from my perspective the point it moot because if someone wanted me to work Christmas eve or day or Thanksgiving day I'd decline. Not only because that's family time for me, but because I know the place will be dead. However, Labor Day, Memorial Day, Fourth of July, Halloween, Day before Thanksgiving, NYE, those are all dates that are fair game but if I've got a regular gig that falls on those days, I'm not going to suddenly demand extra.
