I am at a bad position here.
I can show someone how to get back a copy of what they paid for and legally own.
It also shows someone how to cheat.

At this stage I request guidance from mods before going further.

I think it's pretty much explained, no need to go into demonstration or anything.

I believe he means using something like Limewire or the likes (basically illegal download sites) to download the songs on his unplayable disc - to have playable songs and still have the original.

And that’s exactly the position where I’m at. I have the original CD’s with pinholes, as mentioned above - meaning I will be legit downloading the exact faulty songs from “torrent” (1:1).

However, I can see the Catch 22 on Jerry2x’s position in posting the link. It’s like opening a pandora’s box for other non-legit host to be able to go to that link also. I think I’ll stick to my old method of just making copy from my burned inventory and use that. It’s not worth the hassle. ALL my original cd’s are behind me during the show anyway, so nothing to worry about burned cd’s tucked behind the original unplayable ones. Thanks, Lonnie & Jerry.

Same here. Very few if any can say the same thing. Even in my mobile shows, I have the discs with me in a case.

I can't, because I just simply refuse to carry all that extra crud that won't get used around. If someone wants to come with a court order or a warrant, yeah we'll go through my discs but as a mobile I see absolutely no value in bringing all those discs along when I don't even carry a player anymore (I have a backup laptop set to go though).

No reason at all they can't sell downloads. All that SC has to do is keep a record of what songs they have sold to who to verify when they want to sue someone....

Or they can rely on the buyer to keep the reciepts.

No different than owning a cd. PROOF OF PURCHASE....

Being a mobile DJ/KJ, I can see where Tony's coming from. I use to do the same when I was mobile. This time (3 x a week) I am stationary and my rig is permanent installation at the club. I have the luxury of leaving everything including my cd's in a lockable cabinet. I think Lonman's rig/gig is the same.

Yeah my current gig is stationary 7 nights. But like I said even mobile I always had the discs in a case that was at least under the table. Started doing it for backup purposes, however if I do mobile shows again, it will be just for the sake of having them on site.

There are problems of leaving gear for extended times. There's the chance of fire, flood etc. And the biggie, if the venue is leased there is a chance that if the owner doesn't pay the rent, the doors will be locked and everything seized. You would probably get your gear back but it could take months.

I would expect that in a semi-public place like a bar disks would eventually disappear if they were stored there for long periods, especially on non-karaoke nights when no-one is watching them.

Maybe not many of them but some....

That nearly happened to me. I had considered leaving my rig for the night, but thought better of it. Good thing too, because the next day the doors were locked. They went into receivership which would have been a HUGE mess and I would have had to PROVE ownership of every little piece of my gear before they would let me take it. Could have taken months, just for the paperwork alone!

This nearly happened to me. One of my bars was shut down by the local building department for a structural issue & their permits were pulled. The landlord, who I have never met, decided the building was not worth fixing and padlocked all the doors. It was sad because the bar owner (tenant) basically had his business fold due to no fault of his own. I shudder to think about how long it would have taken to get my gear back.

Ooops! So sorry about multiple posting above.
I posted once and I didn't see the post appear, so I post it again and still didn't show.
Following day, I checked and the post is not there so I repost again. Nothing happened so I gave up. What gives?

Again, I apologize. Maybe one of the mods can explain why the postings showed up 2 days later. Sorry!

I am asking about the pricing, haven't got a response yet.

Now almost December and still no website update at mykaraokecdg.com.

Yeah, I even e-mailed him a couple of times after our initial e-mails, and he has yet to even respond to me.

I had a similar email conversion with Al Clark as Kevin The 70's guy did back in late Sept or Oct. Well anyway, mykaraokecdg.com is back up as of last week! I placed an order with them last friday so I'm waiting for a custom cdg to arrive in the mail. They have Abraxa songs as well and Soundchoice (Abraxa brand are owned by SBI). They charge $4.55 a song in Australia money on your credit card which I believe comes out to $4.49 and a half cent in US currency.

In a email in late Oct. Al Clark told me that a canadian company had purchased Soundchoice and is running it. He said that they made some new songs and he had the chance to go over them. He basically said all of the new songs created by this new Canadian company suck so he is not going to have/use them on his website and just use the original Soundchoice songs only. I checked soundchoices website and they don't appear to using using any of the new songs they supposely created but weirdly, I found a few on them on singsnap.com. Like Michael Franti and Spearhead's "Say Hey (I Love You) and Carrie Underwoods "Undo It".

Ordered my first disc since today since their return. We'll see how it goes when I get it. Already have 4 others in my saved box - one being a duplicate replacement to my 8148 which cracked on me last week when I was swapping jewel cases to the slimline cases
