Anyone ever hear of a SoundTracs Topaz S16-4 Mixer? I did a little research, and these were made by Wharfdale in the mid-2000s. Some of the reviews I read states that they are comparable to SoundCraft mixers. Anyone ever use one? I found one for a good deal at an estate sale, and the guy is holding it for me so I can test it out.

I think they were a little older than that. I worked with a company that used a smaller 14/4 version. It was a basic little console, had decent sound, better than my Soundcraft Folio at the time, but not as good as the VLZ series Mackie. If it's cheap enough and no channels dead or dirty, i'd not hesitate to pick it up.

Yup, I did a little more research, and this is a 2000 model. Wharfedale bought out SoundTracs in 2005, but only supported the line for a few more years after that.

The estate sale I found wants $50.00 for it. As long as all the channels work, I think that's a steal. I would put the street value at closer to $200+.

I'll put this mixer in my moble rig and sell my mobile rig mixer for $100-125!

If it works well, compare the sound to your existing board, you may be surprised. $50 is a great price.

Just FYI, I passed on this. Once I went to pick it up, they all of the sudden remembered that they did not have the power supply. I researched a new power supply, and it would have run $76.00, PLUS, there is no guarantee that the mixer even works.

As soon as I found out it had no power supply, the seller's changed their tune from "it works perfect" to "we have no idea what a mixer does, we just assume everything works."

Red flags all around. I'll pass!
