So glad I found this thread. Hosting a Karaoke Halloween party at the home and after reading these posts I quickly decided the Home Theater system speakers weren't going to cut it. My kids enjoy Karaoke so this is more than a one shot deal.

My question is this. All I am interested in (right now anyway) is being able to connect my PC to the mixer, output sound to the PA speakers and the video from PC to HDTV.
I am pretty computer literate but a total newb with PC Karaoke.

From the other thread I saw this and ordered it;
http://pro-audio.musiciansfriend.com/pr ... sku=486204

It is on back order so starting to panic a bit, may call them and substitute it with something else.

Is the USB critical for PC/Karaoke operation (output basically) ? Any other suggestions around the $500 price range?

No USB Is not critical in fact I think most here use the regular anaolog output of the sound card (or an external audio interface) and run that to the board. In your case the easiest answer would be to use an 1/8" to 1/4" Y (insert) cable to accomplish that.

As far as a complete solution for you in that price range, there's a number of packages on musicians friend that could fit the bill.

Great, that's what I was hoping. Just got a nice set from them in my price range, looking forward to setting it up! Thanks for the response.

Got the set, wife blew a fuse when she saw the size of the speakers. Got it hooked up to computer and had a few hours of fun with the kids. Any tutorials on setting up a mixer? Played around with it (Behringer UB1222FX-Pro) and seemed to work well but not sure what most of the dials on the mic inputs do. Didn't really notice any changes when playing around with them.
