Hello,
While my shure 58 mic is being shipped I wanted to see if the other cheap Philips universal microphone canbe connected to my YAMAHA MW10c mixer..
I mic has 1/4 inch adapter and it goes into the mic ports on the mixer but the sound does not seem to pass through the mic.

Is it even possible to use the universal mic with the yahama mixer??

Here is a picture of the mic that I am trying to connect

Here is a picture of the mixer

it should work. did you perhaps plug it into the insert instead of the line input?
use the 1/4" closest to the xlr input.

It's possible the mixer does not like the unbalanced jack - you could try to use an XLR adapter

Although this one I do not believe is a true converter/transformer. If like stated you aren't in the correct jack, then it won't work at all, if you are in the 'line' jack and still not getting sound (I am assuming you have the gain & level control turned up on the channel), then try to stick it into one of the stereo channel 7/8 or 9/10 MONO jack. If this still doesn't work, you possibly have a defective mic.

I've plugged the exact same mic into my Behringer mixer and it works fine, though
the output level is low - needed all levels turned way up.
