Too bad I can never use something like that. Most people wouldn't see the humour in it and would probably walk away offended.

Of course, I'm just joking! I really don't use that sign but sure would be funny if we did. Just having a little fun.

Well, thats a bit more human than what I was thinking,,, I was just gonna have them flogged..

If you offend an A-hole and they leave and never come back you may lose in the short run, but what about the long run. What are the odds they never do anything rude or obnoxious to their fellow singers? Just asking, not claiming to know the answer...

I actually had a guy this weekend come onto the stage while I was singing a duet to ask a question. I was singing while he asked it. I skipped a few words and answered his question. He wasn't even a singer. Then he stood there in between the two of us while we sang. For no reason. During the music break in the song I asked him to get off the stage. He had no clue he did any thing wrong.

Like Babs said most don't know they're doing anything wrong. I have had it happen and generally ask them politely to wait until the song is over and I'll square them away. If I'm singing it means it's slow anyway so keeping them happy trumps my singing.

I must admit I'm a bit, well, surprised by some of the ways suggested to handle folks. If you want people to be polite and respectful to you and respect what you're doing you should treat them exactly as you want to be treated. I don't see how humiliation or being impolite could work out in the end but I guess I'm just a softie.

Drunkenness can turn the most polite person into an idiot.
