I used to use the theme from the muppet show.
Now I use Drummer boy.
Works really well with my lighting.

Do you have anything you always start the show with.

For about four years straight ('04 - '08 ) I opened with Teddy Bear. I still open with it now and then, but for the past year or so I've been going with Solamente Una Vez. OCD much? :)

To Intro myself I always kick of with The Road Hammers "I'm a Road Hammer" (most of my friends in the music industry call me the road hammer). It's a good rocking, slow building tune with a great instrumental part where I can do my "Welcome to xxxx, this is Let It Rip Karaoke....." schtick. As far as the first Karaoke song, I try to mix that up as much as possible. I figure my regulars would get pretty tired of hearing me start every show with the exact same song.

Most times I don't sing first -- if I am in the rotation I tend to go last. When I do, I have a number of different songs I choose: Thank God For You by Sawyer Brown, If You Can Do Anything Else by George Strait, Strait's All My Exes Live In Texas, Carefree Highway, Randy Travis' Too Gone Too Long, and several others. Mostly chosen to not push my voice too much.

I always sing the first song. That a lot of times is the only song I sing by myself.
I like to make sure everything is running smoothly with the system before I have anyone else sing. It is a nice way of tweaking everything before the patrons sing.

I do different songs all the time. The song depends on the mood of the bar at the time. I think I would get bored with the same song every time. I usually try to sing something easy as I am not warmed up yet. I have old pipes. :D

About 95% of the time I start of the show with Cheap Trick's "Ain't That A Shame". It has a good 2 minute intro and 1 minute outro, which give me time to "talk over" the music for the introductions about us and how thing work.

My sound check is when I sing the first song. I always try to sing something no one has heard me sing before. I have no standard song for this I guess.

I intro into my show with AC/DC - You Shook Me, Shaggy - Mr. Lover, Snoop Dogg & Pharell - Drop it Like It's Hot.....some others, but those work best.

Like Letitrip said, something that has a instrumental space where I can introduce myself and announce the show, then transition right into the first karaoke song (without dead air  )

My theme music whenever I'm about to walk out onto a stage is neo: pink panther theme... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kkT-MVqrLMM

I occasionally use it for the introductions to karaoke, and I use the length of the track to announce silly news stories from around the world at the same time.

If short on time, I tend to use a little less conversation JLX remix, which gives me enough time to announce the essentails.

If I open with a song, California Dreaming has enough time for me to squeeze in announcements.

Normally I introduce the show with a disco track and call singers straight up and set the levels quickly... (I tend to work in the same venues, so I have a rough idea of the setting to start with, and in new venues I run a sound check about an hour before hand). If I sing in a regular venue, I pick anything to start with, new venues I tend to favour the song I'm Alright Jo dee Messenger.

I've had a thing recently for playing Adam Lamberts For Your Entertainment just before my offical start time, being in the Uk that song (and the controversy) is lost on my audience... but I like the naughtiness of it and it tends to get me in the mood once I hear it through the PA.

My opening is always a mellow song, since everyone is still arriving, socializing, saying their hello's. Wonderful Tonight / The Chair / Another Day In Paradise / Eye In The Sky
