As most here already know, I am an avid supporter of Compuhost, have been since its debut years ago. But lately, I've been hearing rumor of some more exciting things coming from the CH camp. A simple search turned up the following...

Can't wait to see what they come up with now!

Could this have something to do with CB's great announcement on Nov. 1?

Toqer had a very similar idea years ago with his software and all the manus blew him off..... Sad that he was way ahead of his time.... Seems to me that the manus are YEARS behind in the technology and that's very sad, indeed....

If you're referring to AutoKDJ, I once visited their webpage and was absolutely amazed by the number of F-WORDS accompanied by a variety of other offensive and immature rantings on their own website! Probably not an organization any respectable manufacture would want to be associated with. Maybe that's the reason they were "blown off"?

Would the connection mean that one could only play Chartbuster content?
If so I will switch over to JustKaraoke, which is my backup software on my computer.

I don't think so and sure don't hope so...
I guess it means that CH will allow easy access to Chartbuster download-able content.

Here is my guess how it will work:
First, you set up an account with CH where "X" amount of dollars are put into this account to be used for downloads.
Now, you're at your show...
Customer says "Do you have (whatever song)?
You say No but let's see if I can get it for you right now.
So, you type in the song title in CH's search box and it comes up and asks if you would like to download it. If you say yes, the amount of the download is detucted from your account and the song is then downloaded and playback begins. This would take less then a minute for the singer to have his song.
The problem is, most of us don't use our laptops to connect to the internet. They are stricty show computers and nothing else. And even if we did, most bars do not have WiFi which would render this feature useless. So, what would be the point?
Now, if all bars, clubs, lounges, resturants, etc had WiFi, this would be great.
Anyway, I could be way off base but that's just a thought.

And what if you could get content ON DEMAND without relying on an Internet connection? Again, just heard it through the rumor mill, but since Invicion themselves have openly advocated keeping your show computer off the net when possible, my guess is along those lines. As for limiting their playback capability to one provider.... I think that's thinking WAY OFF base, in fact, borderline ridiculous!

This off of invicion forum:
Hello All,
Good News! We've been hard at work on an integrated Remote SongBook/Request (Kiosk) system for CompuHost. The new Kiosk is slated to debut this week at Chartbuster's Big Mama Karaoke Cafe (arguably the largest, most state of the art Karaoke venue in the world). Soon after, we plan to make the Kiosk Addon available to our valued users.
The new Kiosk Addon provides for...
1. Offers Touchscreen and Keyboard functionality.
2. Completely integrated into CompuHost, allowing full automation of requests if desired.
3. Offers a manual (instead of automated as listed above) "drag and drop" implementation (preferred by many hosts), whereby the requests are added to a new "Remote Requests" list on the host screen. The host is then free to place the singers and/or their requests anywhere into the rotation by a simple "drag and drop" process.
4. Includes a unique "User Account/Profile System" that allows singers/performers to create password protected profiles. After creating their profile, the singer can login to the profile from any remote terminal, and view/select from their past performances (History).
5. Unlimited number of Kiosk Stations are supported.
6. For hosts with Internet connectivity, performers/singers will be able to view and/or make request from the convenience of their smartphone or similar Internet connected device.
And much more, stay tuned!

Dang, if CH would only support playing customer CDG natively (no ripping, no piracy issues) I would go for it in a heartbeat!

I want the autobump feature that quickly moves me to the top of the rotation when I walk in the door at 11:45 PM.

All I want it to do is search a bloody song.
Artist - Title.
Without the 40 character restriction.

Don't understand, what are you talking about a 40 character limit? I've used CH for years, and have never been restricted to a 40 character limit! Are you actually entering 40 characters as a search string????

Sorry, I don't want that in my system due to I don't believe in it. You'll get up before the new rotation begins.

Yes.
Apparently if I put a song code in it's not a problem.

So it's now SEVERAL hours past the 10:00am deadline Chartbusters gave (and post on their site) and still there's nothing. Maybe they mean 10:00pm?
Or tomorrow?
