The other night I was toying with the effects and accidentally turned them off for a few seconds. The singer looked at me and we both started laughing. He knew what I was doing, so wasn't mad. The sound was comical it was so dry. It wasn't a pleasant change. I'm thinking next time someone complains there are no effects I'll show them what it sounds like to have no effects. Then there will be no argument that I'm not using them.
I have done this occasionally - will have a "know-it-all" come up, say, "I don't want any reverb" (which I don't use anyway) so I give it to them dry. Sorry....sounds bad Mr. KIA. I use effects so sparingly that nobody knows they're on until they're off.
