Finally! After nearly 1.5 years of toiling on the shop floor, I've accepted an engineering position and can make my own hours post gig days. I can pursue week night karaoke gigs. I did the 9-1 then up at 3 thing for 6 months and just couldn't hack it anymore. It took true love for the scene to keep me going as long as I did.

Anybody else tell of similar devotion stories?

I haven't really got a story like that, except that when I first started out, it was just a supplemental income thing that was supposed to give me some return on what I had invested in my hobby. I had a day job and lost several hours of sleep one night a week due to hosting. And then I injured my knee. After that I could no longer work at my day job (nursing). Eventually, that one night turned into what I'm doing now. I currently have two nights, but next week I will definitely have three, and if all goes well, I will finally be able to put my second system (mainly a rental system) to work another two nights a week that I'm unavailable for with a new host I've hired. It's been gathering dust for the most part for the last year because I couldn't find anyone reliable to run it.
Anyway, Congratulations!

Will you take an opposite?

Have just lent my rig to my eldest son.
He teaches drama and is doing a production.
They need time to learn how to use it all.
Problem is, although I still have a rig to use...
My main lighting has left me till late december.
Is like total wipeout. :crying2:
