Hello gurus,

I have a HT setup at home with the room size 14 x 23 with PSB speakers and Onkyo Receiver NR-3007. Recently, I have purchased and added this Karaoke unit JBK M-4000N MIDI / DVD / CD+G / USB Karaoke Player with Video Superimposing & SD/MMC Reader and BMB 600watts speakers to my HT system.

I hooked up BMB speakers to my Onkyo receiver with B speaker input or selection since A speaker input being used by HT PSB speakers. When we sang karaoke the background music was horrible or very low in volume even I cranked the receiver to max volume from master, it also happended to vocal as well. I want to find out either I did something incorrectly such as configuration or this is not the setup for Karaoke.

I have been told that I would need a mixing amp is the way to solve the vocal and background music issues. I have been thinking about getting a BMB unit such as this one here: Better Music Builder DX-222 G2 700W CPU Integrated Mixing Amplifier.

Please advice and for my configuration or selection.

There's no reason that config shouldn't work. Make sure that the Onkyo is in stereo mode, not surround mode. Use only the L+R (white and red) rca outputs to connect the DVD player to the receiver.

Make sure the speakers are wired up the same as each other, + to + and - to -. Getting that wrong will make the speakers 180 degrees out of phase with each other and sounds very odd.

I have tried and checked all the cable connections as well setting receiver to stereo and even tweaked some config. in the Karaoke unit without any luck.

Do you have any suggestions other than those listed above since I have tried them all already.

Is it a problem with both sets of speakers?

Since you said the music AND vocals are low sounding, this leads me to believe your speakers are out of phase acting as a vocal canceler. Double check the speaker wires, make sure + (red) goes to + & - (black) goes to -.

Might want to check karaoke machine volume control......usually needs to be at full volume
Yes you should use a mixer with effects for best results.....not using mic inputs on karaoke machine, and using karaoke machine only to play music & video.......but machine mic inputs will work for now......in all both cases volume on karaoke machine should be about, or at max.......good luck

Both of mine BMP speakers were working fine because they came from mine brother in law. They were working when he gave them to me and they both were 600 watts each. I checked all the speakers' cable with + and - connections between receiver and the speakers and they looked perfectly fine because I used banana plugs as well.

I am running out of solutions guys. If it is not the receiver performance, speakers' wires connection, nor speakers, then I don't even know what is the cause. The cable is 10 gauge.

How do other sources sound through the BMB speakers? Cable TV box or DVD player for example. If they're ok, then suspect the karaoke player. Can you try the karaoke player on another amplifier?

Are you sure the banana plugs are wired correctly. Is it possible one is reveresed on the banana plug? I've had that happen.
Only other thing I can think of is you have the output of the player connected into something other than the main output since it's a 5.1 output - possibly connected to a surround output that would definitely cause these problems.
Also wouldn't bother with the BMB mixer/amp - junk!!!! Any kind of mixer/amp/speakers/processing (from any manu) that actually 'specifies' karaoke ie karaoke mixer, karaoke amplifier, etc, is usually overpriced, underfeatured & under quality.
