ideas for what it could be? I'm so freakin' frustrated. I have checked out every setting on my computer more than once. I don't know what it is. I turned off every one of my Norton settings one by one; that wasn't it. I turned off my popup blocker; that wasn't it.

I used to be able to hear the subs before we replaced my harddrive. Another weird thing is I don't hear my aol "you've got mail" anymore either. I just know that's somehow connected to the sub hearing problem. Media and Real Player work fine. Does someone have any clue, cuz I don't.

I can listen to some, but not others?? Sometimes I get an error message that I don't have the right codecs installed??? Other times it just locks up on me. Since your AOL sounds don't work look at the settings under "sound and multimedia" in your control panel.

AAAAAHHHH this is so great!!!! After hearin' me whine again, my guy (at home, not Phill) figgered out for me what the prob was and now I can hear subs!!!!!

After tinkerin', he uninstalled my RealPlayer program off my puter and somehow that fixed it. I asked him to 'splain why and he said something like it was getting in Media Player's way to play the mp3's or something like that.......I hope this helps anyone else with this prob!!

It now looks like it's Media Player that is playing the subs and it's working great.

(moved to Singer's Forum)

Glad that worked out...

Sometimes other media players override the settings of Window Media Player. That is the player that I have set up as the default for the Singer's Showcase & That's Karaoke. It is the most popular and comes preinstalled on most computers...

My brother in-law has been having the same exact problem. He has both the Real Player and the Windows Media player installed. Both work just fine for playing anything that he wants to play on his local hard drive and on other websites. But for some reason he can't listen to any of the MP3 files on the Singers Showcase, which are set up to be played with an embedded Windows Media Player. He has the Windows media player set to be the default player for MP3's.

I've been trying to figure out what could be causing this but have not been able to come up with a solution for him. I doubt that he would want to uninstall his Real Player program. There must be another solution.

Phil, could it be something in the embed code? I've looked at the code though and I couldn't see anything there that might be causing it.

I couldn't listen to the subs at all until I downloaded "Quicktime". Then everything worked ok.

I checked and rechecked the code.

Tried running it from an older computer with dial up (14.4k <-- still have one!) and it worked.

Snoopy - I am uncertain why uploading an Apple product helped a Microsoft product function. Interesting?

Let me investigate other options... I have been awaiting some feedback from another forum 'Web tech' site, trying get answers. As soon as I get some "real" feedback, I will post it.

:?: I can listen to all but just a few posted songs...this week I tried to listen to Amazing Grace by two different folks and could not hear it also a beatles tune by the beatle fan,( but I usually can hear all of his), go figure....

I gotta say, 2 different postings of Amazing grace and no sound freaked me out...lol...you should have seen how fast I ran to hear other gospel songs to make sure God wasn't sending me a message..

Due to trying so hard to learn to post songs here I have many recording programs and players loaded on my puter, so now am going to check to see if I can find the reason for this oddity...such good info here on these forums...Thanks guys! :D
