Connie, it's in the emoticons menu to your left here. Just hit on the pink "View more Emoticons" and it'll show you all that are available.

Allstar, I agree, no name-calling or mud-slinging is allowed. We all need to respect each other. Whoever did whatever needs to chill. Apologizing and starting over would be the right thing for whoever is interested. Whatever works for you guys. And I do hope something works to get us back on track.

I'd just like everyone to be friends. What can I say, I grew up with the Brady Bunch! :spin:

I kept asking him to "REALLY READ" maybe I need to point to what I mean" Please see all 3 underlined areas......Personally, I am truly over this....I have some MAJOR things going on in my life and this is getting old and stinky....

[quote=" I realize I made my comment in probably the wrong area, for that please accept my apology, but I had just come from reading the rocks that had been thrown unnessisarily and I had a stupid moment, I guess...and climbed on my Newbie soapbox.....to beg for liniency for the "Imperfect Newbies" (self included) ...

There prolly is no final answer here....Yes, we are all entitiled to our opinions........I feel I have made my point, just don't want to be misunderstood....

The New should be welcomed warmly.... :D

:D :D :D :D :D :D Hopefully they will stay long enough to get the desire to learn more than they knew when they came in the door, as I have now, 1 month later..Till the desire comes, I see no need for a shark tank with bites, cuz the world is full of pain, karaoke should be a comfort zone.... :D :D :D :D :D :D

I truly enjoy all the singers here....because I truly love music....If I have offended anyone, I apologize  ....I try to keep my mouth shut when I have nothing nice to say.... I AIN'T perfect and I DO know it....and this was a concern for me cuz it happened to me too....we ALL have feelings...

Ps. My Father is terminally ill with cancer and in the hospital with pneumonia...I ask for prayers for him  ...His 74th birthday is Tuesday...For his birthday I am going to sign him up and post a few of his songs so he can live on thru them....His karaoke name is Big Daddy...He made me take him at the ripe ole age of 73 to get it tattooed on his arm...lol. His picture can be found in my album...Please think good thoughts for him...

And yes, I do wear my heart on my sleeve these days because it hurts alot to see your Daddy dying.... so maybe I am just being emotionally stupid ..but I don't think so...because I was not the only occurance... Daddy made those first recordings of me and we were proud of them...I apologized in advance for the lack of equipment therefore poor quality....I already knew they weren't that good....but they were all I had....and I wanted to join in here....

Respectfully,
Connie[/quote]

Connie, I know you're hurting, honey. I am praying extra hard for your Dad and for you to have the strength you need for this. I can tell you're a Daddy's girl, much like I am.

We get very emotional when we have these kinds of things happening in our lives. I can get pretty sensitive if I know a family member is in pain, it's worse than if it were me and I know you're the same, I can tell by the love you are showing when you speak of your Dad.

Please trust in God. He will never let you down. No matter what. He will always know what is right. Give Him all your troubles, sweetie. You will remember this one day in the future when you look back.

We care very much about you and your Dad's progress, so please keep us informed. I was very comforted recently by all of you and I really appreciate it. I think you will find a lot of souls here that truly care.

Please be well for your Dad. He needs you now more than ever to be strong.

I have just recently noticed something that really puzzles me. This one person, always posts good comments about the songs I have submitted, yet always ranks them low.

<snip>
Please don't misunderstand. I very much appreciate HONEST critiques and rankings. I wouldn't have it any other way! It's just that I would expect the comment (critique) to match the ranking given.
<snip>

1. My hopes and prayers are with you in your time of need Connie. I am fortunate that both my parents are still alive but my father was in the hospital for epiglotitis last year and almost died when his throat swelled shut. Anytime someone in our family takes ill we are raw emotional nerves that are easily 'tweaked'. We understand and we truly hope your father recovers soon since it's obvious that there's lots of life and things he still wants to share between you and him.

2. Luly, I wans't aware of your illness, but I am glad you're fine now. Your sweet voice and caring personality would be greatly missed if you were not here.

3. People will misunderstand each other occasionally and sometimes we take things the wrong way. I don't know (or care) what passed between people in PM's. I like everyone here (so far anyway!) and that's why I keep coming back. I hope the hatchet is buried now (and not in each other's back!!!) and we can move on with having FUN! Please don't respond to this... it's just my comments for the time being and I don't want it stirred back up.

4. I don't mean to be short, but now back to the original post.... (see above)

I just started listening and commenting on songs. I don't have time to listen to everyone (Sorry, but I don't). I do try to listen to a couple ppl a day and leave comments. If you submit multiple songs I'll try to listen to at least one and comment. The other will likely be ignored. Again - time limiting my chance to comment/listen.

I don't rank anyones songs. Sorry, but I don't. I'm an amatuer, a hack, a part time karaoke host and recreational singer that has no right to 'rate' someone on a scale of 1-10. I don't have the ability to maintain a firm rating mechanism from day to day or week to week. I may be overly harsh one day, and lenient the next. I do try to comment though if I like how the song was sung. If I see an obvious shortcoming I try to mention it. The only example I have so far is a song where I mentioned the mix had the vocals too low. I don't know if it's equipment related (mic, mix, etc) or just how it got recorded. I just know the vocals seemed too soft - especially considering how wonderful they were. I was overwhelmed by the vocals but they were hard to hear because of the backing track. I try to be honest and point out the good and the bad.

If you're going to rate someone your comments should reflect your rating. Ok, so they used too much reverb and the vocals are muddy. Tell them so they can fix it next time and rate them accordingly. Don't rate them low just so they get bumped down the ratings to put yourself higher (I don't know this is happening, it's TOTAL speculation).

I post to improve. If I'm off key, the vocals are too soft/loud, the recording is clipping, or anything else TELL ME. I do this to improve so I can host/sing better.

Ok, so this is just my take on the ratings and commenting thus far as a newcomer to the Singer's Showcase. Perhaps I'm off in how I've responded so far but I hope this makes sense so far.

Wow ..did this thread ever take a turn for the worse !!! , Allstar and Connie...I sure hope ya'ns came to a meeting of the minds. I sure enjoy both of your contributions here. When I first started posting here I had some words with another member (much like you two). however I think we both got tired of the negativity ,who neads it right ? so we just let Bygons be Bygons and continue enjoying and sharing here with the rest of you neat folks. good luck youngerns !as for the topic of Dads , I truely have wonderful feelings listining to Big Daddy's songs. I sure wish Karaoke was around when my Dad was still here , You guys wouldn't be able to get a song in edgewise. Anyhoo , Life's much too short for bickering over something we all do for relaxation as well as stress relief. I wish ya' all the best , and Big Daddy's in my Prayers.Take Care ALL !!!

Thanks Denndog for you kind words about my Dad's songs. Daddy's face did light up when I told him he had unknowingly been singin on the web all day...I intend to print out the coments and read them to him. We all like to be clapped for after our songs...right? :D

We are cleaning up after hurricane Charlie here and hurricane Francis is on the way...gonna hit us tomorrow night...So between that and Dad's condition I guess I just do not have the energy to keep arguing a clear point....Life is just too short... God has a way of reminding us what matters and what doesn't...

I come here to relax and had read just one too many (imo) unwarrented less than nice comments and popped my top, in the wrong area, of course....Anytime you put this many personalities together there is bound to be a clash now and then, I guess...It went way out to left field for sure..My point was take it easy on the newbies so as not to chase em off and chill with the technicals till folks are ready to learn..being a newbie here, I knew first hand how it felt....

There was no end really...except that I called attention to some areas that Allstar skipped when he read my posts, wherein I had offered apologies for mishandling my over developed attitude on the subject of blinder kindness to the lesser experienced upon their new arrival here..

I was SO EXCITED when I found this site!!! I told everyone I saw about it!!!! This has made a dark spot on my excitement, but this too shall pass...There are alot of warm loving folks here and I know it's the big picture that counts...

Now I will ask for even more prayers to protect us from harm during the hurricane. .. My husband is a trucker and has been out of town for both of these....so that's made it even tougher..as I am sure "Ok what Nows" wife can appreciate...

I appreciate deeply all who took the time to listen to my posts of mine and Daddy's songs...also for all who offer prayers...My repeated apologies to all for expressing my unwanted opinion. After all, you know what they say about opinions.... Prolly a real good reason the Bible says judge not...lol...

Ya'all take care and in the words of a fellow SS member, sing like u got nothing to prove...(I love that saying) Make a joyful noise y'all.. You can tweak em later after you learn how, lol...
:D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

Respectfully,
Connie

I had a suspected blockage to my heart, but after I had a procedure called a cath, they found no blockage. It was a false positive. But, as they say, things happen for a reason. I am now eating a much healthier diet and exercising, which had gone by the wayside much too long....
