I can see the pitfalls of technology here for sure. If it's harder to get to, let alone alter the sound, then things like that are going to happen. I will never be anywhere near the level of computer-geekness that topher is, (by the way, thats a compliment, :) ), that's one of the reasons I hover over my equipment like a hawk! As far as the door thing goes, I used to be a bouncer/door guy myself, so I know the down side of letting some people in. All I can say is "live and learn".

Sounds like a computer geek who tells all of his friends that he's a "bouncer" until someone needs to get bounced. Then he tells them that he's just a "Door Man".

If he just settled on being a KJ; This might have never happened. The bar that I worked at had 'Bouncers" that checked all of the ID's.

That would be a show I would most likely avoid due to lack of host interaction. If a place is going to let anyone grab a mic and start doing whatever that guy was doing & not do anything about it then that is not a show i'd frequent. Give me a host that interacts anyday!

Just calling it the way I se it, Tough Guy.

Stick to what you do best. You obviously should NOT take a job that entails any physical confrontations since you are obviously afraid of doing so.

Don't be a roofer if you're afraid of heights, dude.

Don't blame the host.
He goes to put on a show.
Do you really think he should also put his life on the line?
What is it with you people.
Are we to be Kung Fu masters?
Has being human just been voted out?

Bruce I don't know where you got the impression that I'm a tough guy, or that I act that way at work.

If you want me to declare myself a wimp because I didn't touch this guy fine.

Coming home safely to these guys means more to me than your opinion.

I'm sure that your BOSS thought that you could do more for him than just check ID's when he decided to let you double dip at your job. I've got kids of my own and I love them dearly but when there were altercations at the bar I worked at; EVERY MALE EMPLOYEE was expected to get "involved" in breaking it up. I don't recall ANYONE EVER saying that they couldn't "participate" because they had children at home. LOL It would have been their last day working there if they had.

How funny would it be if the police and fireman tried to use that excuse? Oh, I can't go into that burning building to save people. I have children and a wife at home to worry about. Stick to automating your karaoke show and tell the bar owner to hire a real doorman, who isn't afraid to get his hands a little dirty every once in a while.

So this guy caused trouble the night before, and you let him in the next day.. because he apologized, or because you were afraid he was going to punch your $5,000 worth of dental work down your throat?

Who's going to stop this clown from coming back in again? You?

As a 'doorman' with no floor security, you're it man.

If you can't (or don't want to) do the job, the management needs to hire someone who can before someone ends up getting hurt while you're cowering under the KJ booth calling 911 waiting for the cavalry to arrive.

911 isn't going to respond because a drunk is being unruly.. that's what the non-emergency number is for.

Again, 911 services are intended for life threatening emergencies.. not because some karaoke bar is too cheap to hire a competent doorman/security.

After I slit my wrists, would it be okay if I called 911 to come and save me?
