God Bless The USA does exceptionally well at American Legions and VFWs. They all stand and hold hands in a big circle. And when it gets to the part where it says "I'd gladly stand up...' they all raise their still clasped hands.
We always end the show that with that.

Dude, you're like the Dixie Chicks, you step outside the context of the moment, express an opinion that's not popular, you do it in a way that comes off as being a complete jerk and then when you receive reaction that's negative you play the victim who's free speech right to express his opinion is somehow being trampled. What neither you nor the chicks get is that while you have a right to express your opinions you don't have a right for people to like them or how you expressed them and everyone else has a right to express their opinion about your views and the tone in which you expressed them.
You're not a victim here pal, you picked the battle. You chose to go off topic and do so in a way that paints you as a major D/B (I'm not the only one who thought so, so gee is it just me or is it you) so you have nothing to cry about now.
<-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------> Now back to the OT, Earl, despite the constant off topic shoves, I hop you got the information you were looking for and that the folks here who actually had a desire to be helpful gave you some new ideas.
I have ABSOLUTELY NO PROBLEM with people disagreeing with me. I don't even have a problem with people resorting to name calling when they get their panties in a wad. What I have a problem with is people tellling me that I'm not allowed to disagree with them in a PUBLIC FORUM. Are the EGOS here so fragile that they can't stand up to ONE guy disagreeing with their concept? How Sad indeed. Why couldn't the OP have just said...."Thanks for you're opinion, Bruce but that's not the way I run my show" ??? instead of someone else saying ..."shut your pie hole, D/B"
It's that tired old cliche about saying nothing unless you have something "NICE" to say and I think that is B/S.
I get called names for interjecting a simple opinion about running a strict rotation at the end of the show and somehow, I'm the bad guy.
I love you guys. It's always my way or the highway. It's an impossibilty in your eyes that there might just be a better way to run a show. There is no such thing as a better mouse trap. Let's all have a group hug to go with our group sing along.

Bruce, do you go to a restaurant and see that they only offer tomato soup on todays menu and complain to them that todays special should be chicken noodle just because you said so? Earl did NOT ask YOUR opinion on whether YOU LIKED his way of doing things, he asked for ideas on WHAT songs to add. Simple as that. But YOU HAD TO be the ALMIGHTY and POWERFUL and KNOWING Bruce the Magnificent! Feel free to open up your mouth and insert a little more of your foot. Pretty soon you will swallow the entire leg. Ok, now also feel free to just stop and take a minute and shut up.

I do know of restaurants that will make special meals on request that are not on the menu. I also know that many places will make chicken fingers with Buffalo sauce on them, instead of Honey Mustard on request. It's called CUSTOMER SERVICE, D/B.
I DON'T THINK THAT THERE IS ANYTHING WRONG WITH ASKING THE WAITER IF A DIFFERENT KIND OF SOUP MIGHT BE AVAILABLE. You never know if you don't ask. I doubt it very much that the waiter would say to a customer..... "If it's not on the menu, douche bag, we don't have it". It's more likely that the waiter would say something like.... "I'm sorry sir but all we have is tomato soup today. Once again, IT'S CALLED CUSTOMER SERVICE. SERVICE WITH A SMILE.

Bruce.... "Well, I've compared all available vehicles, considered all the options, and I've decided to purchase a Ford F150. I've decided on the engine, interior package, transmission, stereo, wheels.... everything except colour. What colour do you think I should get?"
Earl... "I think you should get a Dodge Ram... What kind of an idiot would buy a Ford?"
Bruce... "But Earl, I've already decided on the Ford. I've done my due diligence and homework. I just need a little help deciding on the colour."
Earl... "That's dumb. Fords suck. You need to order a Dodge. That's the ONLY way to go."
------------------
I've decided we need a Canadian version of God Bless The USA... What a great end-of-show group song. Do you suppose Mr. Greenwood would write one for us northerners? I suppose a guy could get busy with Karaoke Builder Studio... and come up with a variation... but it would be illegal as hell. (stay tuned )
Keep those titles coming folks... I'm compiling a list.
Thanks again
Earl

I actually own a silver Ford. I didn't call anyone an idiot or dumb.
If you come up with a complete set of lyrics for your Canadian Song Parody, I'll be happy to create the CDG file with Karaoke Builder Studio for you. That is something that I enjoy doing....as opposed to singing with a bunch of screaming drunks at the end of the night.

Where I host in Detroit, the regulars tend to go nuts over Journey's "Don't Stop Believing". I think it's because they love to yell "born and raised in SOUTH DETROIT!!!".

I think everywhere goes nuts over that song, but I am sure it helps.

I have long been trying to convince the KJ at my favorite singing spot to institute a group-sing ritual at the end of the night. I do think it would help ease the pain of ending the night....We're all in this together and none of us gets to do another.
There's a song I do that started out as a small group of three of us. Everytime we do it the crowd goes wild for it. Now it's requested almost everytime we come in and there's always a few that want to join us. We welcomed the new comers and it has grown to be a huge group song with most of the bar coming up to join us or singing along in their seats. It's always alot of fun, but it has grown to be a monster out of my control. I get asked to get it going nearly everytime I'm there (almost to the point of being tired of it). I think it would be a great end of the night song:
Seven Bridges Road - by The Eagles
