I don't recall anyone saying you were stupid?
Collecting discs for collecting is one thing, for use in shows is another. But you're right, that is just my opinion. Coin, baseball card do not use their coins or cards for anything other than looking at. I cansee collecting original discs to store in an archive, but not to use if that was the true intention.

There are certain jobs around machinery where having long hair would be considered stupid! As would wearing a tie, a wedding ring, having a loose fitting long sleved shirt, etc. etc. etc.!
If you read Lonnie's post you will note that he said "IF a KJ" that means to me a working KJ using the disc for business. I use my 8125 for business but I am computer based so the disc is archived and put away.

Exactly what I meant! If a working kj wants to use an original he can only buy for $200 or more, or a legal custom for a fraction of that price then so be it, it would not be a smart business decision. If you are collecting the discs for whatever reason that is a different story, I sure hope you would not be using them at that price.

I know that Backstage's Desperado is by far the best version I have ever heard. Nothing else comes close.

Backstage?? Come on!
Does that one have the stupid flute? My Bryan Adams Backstage disc has about half the songs with flute, the others without. Those tracks are okay, but nothing I'd consider anywhere near the top of the food chain.
It's good to see you, Lonnie! Which disc is the 8148? Thanks.
Are these Eagles songs available on custom discs because the company is in Australia? I remember when 8125 was selling for $300! Looks like DooWop is all out of them now, too.

All 15 Eagles song titles from 8125 are available. You can check it yourself @
http://www.mykaraokecdg.com.au/customer/home.php
I already ordered 5 customs from them & they are very reliable. Turn around time from ordering to receiving is about 12 days. Cost per song title - $4.55, or per cd with 15 songs is $75.00 (shipping included). My first order took 3 weeks to receive but that was December, probably because of the holidays.
For the benefit of those who are interested in Chartbusters customs their price is cheaper - $1.99 per song title plus $7.50 priority shipping. I also ordered quite a few cds from them to fill in those country titles not released by SC. Make sure you pick "Mix K for cdg" & not "Mix V with vocal". http://www.chartbusterkaraoke.com/

Yeah my first disc took about 3 weeks as well, however it was also during Christmas Holiday. I now have 2 more on their way & one waiting for me to add to my cart & one more in the process of being compiled.
If it's about 12 days, I should hope to see it around the 7th of Feb.
Also have another Selectatrack custom on it's way that wasn't on SC. Almost 30 of those discs so far.

Thanks for the info, Brian! I've ordered discs from there several times... I agree, they ship very quickly. I had no idea they were selling the tracks from 8125, though.
Thanks, Lonnie... I had a feeling that was the 8148 disc. I have one of them... bought it used & it's scratched up pretty bad. Only half the tracks play smoothly. Thank goodness "Fell On Black Days" is one of them!

Yeah mine cracked when I was taking it out a couple weeks ago to change jewel cases from standard to slimline. PO'd me quite a bit. Oh well re-ordered the entire disc song for song, which hasn't been available for several years now. May just order one for my 8125 as well just to have.

Why was "Take It Easy" left off this disk? I'm guessing that was one of their 15 most popular hits! Gotta whip out the Backstage for that one.
Incidentally, I know a singer that LOVES that Backstage Desperado as well.

Zoom's versions are better than backstage.

I knew people that liked that version as well until I got the SC version.

My guess is that it's the only version that he has and like most people; He believes that every version that he owns is the best one out there....like those people who crow about how great the Sweet Georgia Brown tracks are. No one wants to think that they got suckered into buying something that isn't top shelf.

Kinda OT but I bet you'd prefer Bad Company's "Ready For Love" on SGB versus SC. There's gems and clunkers for EVERY manufacturer.

I have them both and I'd choose the Sound Choice version every time. The SGB version of that song is actually a re-do of the original DANGEROUS version. It's very good but I like the parts with the background singers in the Sound Choice version
However, I do prefer the SGB version of Shooting Star over the Sound Choice version. Probably because that is the first version of that song that I bought and practiced from.

Not me! Actually having this particular version on SC, SGB, All Hits & Dangerous, the Dangerous version is actually my preference (All Hits is actually identical in all respects except for the graphics). The SGB version is identical musically except they add a ton of reverb to the music which makes it sound like crap. The SC is actually good, but in this case not as.

Missed this thread, found it by accident.
OK, I just got my SC8125 shrink wrapped cdg in the mail. I didn't have to pay $200 for it but it wasn't cheap. I'm torn between opening it or not, I bought it to say I have it as I do collect things. But would be nice to have in my collection as well.
I've sung both versions of Desperado at shows, I prefer backstage. SC verison seems to speed along. Maybe that's good for some people but to me BS is just more natural. (I hear that a lot about me!)
Now, do I open this damn thing or not? I have to decide this morning as I am redoing my songbooks. I might just put it in my books and decide later.
At any rate, I own a piece of history and that's why I bought it!
