Ok, tax refund is coming in, and I'd like to do a major update with 2010 songs, could you guys recommend any disk sets that have a good value?
I was thinking a nice country set and a pop set compilation.
I like Chartbuster a lot, but looking over their menus is a bit confusing to me. I must be getting old.
Thanks for and suggestions!

I plan on getting the Chartbuster Pop 2010 and Country 2010 3 disc, 50 song 2010 hits complilations. Those contain all of the major hits that have any resemblance of short-term staying power.

Good choices TopherM, Chartbuster has also released Vol. 2 to both Pop 2010 and Country 2010.

I've used the Chartbuster updates since 2000. They are great. On note Check the latest chartbuster essential (10 i think) against the chartbuster pop and country hits for the first 6 months of 2010. Most if not all of the 2010 updates are also on the essential set. Snag an essential off of ebay for a little more than the 2010 updates and get 450 songs over 50 pop and 50 country. You will still have to buy the second pop and country half of the 2010 pop and country set. Wow does that para look confusing.

What are your singers asking for? I'd opt to get those songs before getting a full set of anything.

admittedly, my to get list looks like this:
pornstar dancing
let it go tim mcgraw
like a prayer (better version)
tighten up the black keys
bad angel
judas priest - turbo lover
only one way to rock - sammy hagar
daughtry - september thong
just haven't met you yet michael buble
raskal flatts - here come goodbye, unstoppable
kiss me deadly (better version)
But i've had requests for new songs that I didn't write down or forgot too. Was looking over the chartbuster 2010 and that seemed to hit all the right notes to speak for the requests i've been getting, and I'm leaning to that.
I'll probobly then pick up some one offs from SBI and that should get me back up to speed.

Keep a clipboard with you at all times at your shows. When someone asks for a song, have them write it down along with their Facebook or Email (great way to get contact info too) so you can let them know when you get the songs.

Get a subscription to PHM Pop and Country and you will always have new songs every month!

Or from Chartbuster.
When I first started, I had the subscriptions to all the new discs only to find that most of the singers wanted to sing what they were comfortable with and I had a bunch of new coasters so I dropped that practice in 98 only to buy requests from singers. I am willing to bet I have discs that have never had a song sung from from that era. I just recently (2 years ago) started my Chartbuster subscription back up and found more singers now trying newer stuff.

I have almost all the monthlies from the 90's and they rarely get played. I now update with the chartbuster yearly updates which are coming out every six months now. 50 country and 50 pop. That adds 200 songs a year of new songs that I don't own. Cost effective and you don't fill up your song book with unsung songs.
My most heavily used set remains the first chartbuster essential. I have about half of the sound choice 8100 series (8125 is not one of them) and look for them when i can cherry pic one but if you are looking for a starter set I'd look hard at the Chartbuster essential one.
