I'm a collector. Mainly of Cal Ripken cards, autographs and his memorabilia. Hence my name here. By the way my most interesting Ripken collectible is my Iowa license plate "RIPMAN8" which he signed.
I do collect a few other things, a few coins, some football cards, Japanese fans, globes, harmonicas.
I realized I had no karaoke items. So I bought my first one recently, I own the Sound Choice 8125 CDG. Not sure if I will open it or not, I know most collectibles are worth more when unopened hence my 10 boxes of Cal Ripken Wheaties boxes.
Has anyone else bought it just to have it?

Here's a harmonica you might wish to add to your collection

I did, paid $35 for, however that was 18 years ago when it first came out, but I had to have it

Do you have the famous Billy Ripkin baseball card? I used to have 9 of them framed in a square pattern. Modern art!

I've seen several references to Sound Choice 8125 over these past few months... I've checked KJ-Pro and see it's an Eagles compilation... but there doesn't seem to be anything special...
What's the significance to this CD as opposed to SC8124 or SC8126?

This was one of the first Eagles disc ever released by any manu. However SC jumped the gun and released the disc in the anticipation they would get the licensing like the other discs, when they were denied, they had to immediately pull & stop selling it. So it was only on the shelf for approx 6 months (if that). It was one of the best recorded Eagles disc ever released. Zoom did make tracks that are pretty good - but that did not happen until sometime in the early 2000's. The Backstage and other manus versions that came out after SC pulled pretty much blow for most of the songs, they do have an occasional gem, Get Over it on BS is pretty decent.

Thanks Lonnie... I knew there had to be some special reason... I've never been a collector of anything, but, now that you've explained it, I can see where that issue would be special to those who are collectors... Eagles' buffs... or even Karaoke perfectionists.
Thanks again.

Actually the scribbled out version is or was worth the most. I have to original and the blacked out box version. The story is too funny! Fleer was left with egg on their face on that one!

I also have 4 or 5 Cal error cards where they spelled his last name "Ripkin".

Showed up in the mail. Shrink wrapped. Hmmmm should I or shouldn't I?
Paid a bit more for it than Lonnie! But it's mine now!

Not at that price! I bought my dad a chromatic once, I tried it, would take a bit more patience but to watch some players on youtube is incredible!

I have a small stack of basketball cards and small stack of these: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wacky_Packages
I'm not really a collector, which is probably why I haven't gotten rid of them. It is too much of a hassle.
