over the last few month I have seen abuse of singers and a poor posting record and up to date no improvement in fact a worsening of the situation over the last month is it worth staying here an posting there is no promotion by the site team or any curbs on the abuses or am I out here on my own with out support

Maybe a lot of people just got tired of all of the blatant lying about how great EVERYONE SINGS??????

I GUESS THE TRUTH MAKES SOME PEOPLE LOOK FOR GREENER PASTURES......The problem with the grass being greener is that it's getting too much fertilizer.

I know the mods over here have no control in the Singers Showcase.
I personally quit posting songs over there because I wanted honest critique, but never really got it.

Dear Sir Ian Paul, There are many people who are negative, and these people seek out other negative people. There are Men and Women who are so negative to the point that they seek out people who treat them with such disrespect that it is sickening!!!

People who stay with a spouse or Girl friend or Boy friend who beats them, and curses at them, and treats them like a dog, and when someone comes along who is positive they drive them away and want nothing to do with them!!!!

I know of many women who will have nothing to do with a decent man who will treat them like a Queen, They instead seek out men who beat them and abuse them!!!

Personally I think it is a form of mental illness!!!!!!!!

Sadly Sir Ian Paul....This web site is no different, the problem is that the people who Run/Own this web site... evidently does not care!!!

Maybe they are people who actually use Karaoke as a means of comic relief, unlike you and me and others who actually enjoy singing Karaoke and enjoy listening to others who enjoy the same.

Sad as it is...Who ever owns this site does not care that the negative people run off the positive people, and so the showcase singers who are positive get run off by those who thrive on the negative!!!!!

You can complain about it like many have, but for the last six years it has not done any good to try and get anyone to do anything about it. So what finally happens is that paying members finally get tired of being abused and harassed and have no other option than to give up and leave.

As for me, No one can run me off!!!! I refuse to leave!!!!

I WILL NOT LET THEM WIN!!!!!!

NOW...with that being said, I guess the owners could have me banned, and then I would have no choice, but as long as I have a choice then I will stay.

I only wish that other positive people would have stayed as I have. I have been here on and off for a long time, waiting for things to get better. Honestly...I don't think it will ever get better as long as negative people are allowed to run positive people away from the site.

It is like a bunch of kids on a playground, and the trouble makers run off all the kids who are trying to have fun, so that the trouble makers can take over the playground and destroy it to the point that it is no longer useful!!!!

Sad but true....So is it worth it???? Sadly the answer is No!!!

I hope to be rich enough one day to buy this place....if that ever happens then I will take charge and make things right!!!!! You can count on it!!!!

But the chance of me getting rich enough to buy this place is about as much of chance as winning the lotto...Not much of a chance it seems!!

I am listening to you sing right now at this moment, and From the start of the song to the end of the song....I cannot hear One thing wrong with your performance!!!!

Tell me how can I give you honest critique when there is nothing wrong with your vocals, or ability to stay in time, and with the melody, pitch was spot on, nothing was wrong...So how can I give an honest critique??

I thought you sang the song very well, well enough that you could be the lead singer in a Rock band!!!!

Can you start a Rock band and get rich in the record biz in this day and time??

The answer is NO!!!! Is it your fault....NO!!!!.....It is the Record labels fault!!! They will not promote anything these days if it is not what they deem hip or cool or in with the times....

Now if you can do dance Aerobics and jump all over the stage running back and forth doing death defying feats and sound like Garth Brooks and stay in time and pitch and in key and perform perfectly while doing all these other things then...YEAH THEY MIGHT LET YOU IN THE DOOR AND GIVE YOU A CHANCE!!!

Sorry Lonnie...I have nothing to say that is negative about your singing, and I have no info on how you can improve talent that you already have.

I have no problem with people offering their opinions on my singing. I even enjoy the ones where people say I sound like Mickey Mouse when I obviously have a fairly deep voice for the most part. I guess that I may have submitted a song in the past that happened to call for a bit of falsetto in it and that's what they're focusing on? Some folks say that I sound very nasally when I sing. That doesn't bother me either because on certain songs; that is exactly the sound that I'm trying to replicate so I take it as a compliment.

All things considered, I'm very happy with the way I sound when I sing but I certainly understand that not everyone likes the same thing as everyone else so if there are people out there that hate the sound of my voice; I'll survive them telling me so. Will it stop me from singing in the future? Not very likely.

I was just kidding above, just wanted to point that out. Didn't want to come across in a mean way...

And like you said, you shouldn't have a problem with it Bruce. Critique is there to point things out so they can be improved, if possible. As long as someone gives you constructive critique.

Unfortunately not everyone does that. And with comments like "you sound like $hit" or similar you can't really work with. So the obvious point with comments like that is to offend people. Those kind of comments usually (not always) come from haters or jealous people. I would just ignore those.

In general, you're all grown people so try to get along or stand above it. Some sound like kindergarten kids... "he was mean, I want him to be punished!". Seriously?

And if you can't take negative comments (whether they're constructive or not), then don't post your songs.

I take on board every thing you say I have just had a look at the post from the 1st Feb and there are only 13 you don't have to be genius to know that some thing is not quite right .

I read earlier in this thread don't let the door catch you as you leave what better example of why people are no longer posting

Just curious, is the "Sir" in Sir Ian Paul as self-imposed title, or have you actually been knighted by the Queen?

Hello! I’d like to state some things for the record…

Think what you will of me, but for someone to think or say that they don’t like me, has never met me I’m really not some big bad wolf that you may perceive me out to be. Yes I’ll admit it, I have a couple of pet peeves when it comes to socializing & interacting here at SS & I’m pretty sure you’re all are aware of…

#1... I frown heavily upon folks not saying THANK-YOU to me when I comment on their songs… & it’s not just me they’re not saying thank-you to, it’s usually the whole group of people that were kind & nice enough to listen & spare a few moments of their time to think & write out a genuinely nice comment, only to get slapped in the face cause low & behold here they are again subbing away like we never even existed.
You’re only as good as your fans… ya ever hear that ole’ expression, “people buy people before they buy the product”… well same applies here at a karaoke site. I always said, even if you were Robert Plant subbing songs here & ya had a nasty, stuck up disposition, I would refuse to listen or give you the time of day, it’s just that simple… nobody is that good where I would hafta swallow my morals!

#2... We had a few misguided individuals that have joined this site, particularly in this past year, that went around subbing songs that were not actually them singing on, they purchased tracks from an internet supplier co. with the polished sounding vocals & mix already on there… why they felt a need to do this still remains a mystery to me but that’s beside the point. I wasn’t afraid to call out these certain individuals & confront them publicly that I was aware of their unusual antics & goings on… I have a good ear, I knew something didn’t sound right. Not only were they subbing fraudulent material but they were snowballing us too, sharing themselves with us & having a few good laughs together & them knowing full well that they were taking us all for a ride the entire time. Now I don’t know bout you all but I take what they did very, very personally & felt every right to have called them out, even if it had me looking like the bad girl in your eyes.
Now these certain individuals have left SS, for the most part, but not before ranting & raving & trying to make a mockery of this site & only to park themselves over at another K site where shananigans like that are apparently overlooked and/or undiscovered. I’ve been to those K sites that are heavily guarded & monitored 24/7 & to me that’s no fun… sometimes it’s good to be told you suck, perhaps maybe you can take that critique & use it to your advantage so you can improve… like me, I’m told quite often here at SS how much my singing sucks but ya never see me running off making a big to do bout it & burying my head in the sand. I personally rather live out my fantasy than to live in a fantasy world.

I think you folks on the Showcase have some really wonderful talent that you share, even you Brucefan4life (I think it’s more personal with you tho than anything else !) & I do feel blessed to be able to listen to you all… I may not be your bestest friend but you’ll be guaranteed to always get the honest approach with me & either u r gonna like me or loath me, that’s your choice, it’s no sweat off my back… but I’ll also be the 1 to tell you how awesome you sound too & mean every darn word of it! & please keep in mind, it’s always just my opinion.

Thanks for reading this, I just felt a need to get it off my chest… I’m really a sweet girl & mean no disrespect, I just don’t like to made a fool of. Hey it’s not my fault they all left, they had a choice… if they think they will find greener pastures elsewhere then more power to em’!

Sir Ian Paul, get off your high horse & stop making false accusations! There will always be people joining this site, coming & going, just cause a handful of you people left doesn’t mean we’re dead in the water… in my honest opinion this is the best K site in town & you know it, that’s why you continuously keep coming back here with your cries for help! I told you, you really should get over it already, it’s not a good way to go through life with so much resentment, hostility & bitterness.

I do realy think you should re read the original thread is a forum not for asking questions and obtaining opinions and by your own admission people are leaving and yes there is abuse of singers I have seen that myself .

just to clarify your points one and two I 99% agree with but if something is not working and it is clear to see 13 post in the last three days there is something stopping singers from posting then it needs fixing and no amount of growling at me for bringing up the subject will make it better

I have a few simple requests and suggestions.

I would greatly appreciate feedback, comments and suggestions that would assist in improving the website.

Additionally, I would like to see less negativity here in the forums (and in Singers Showcase, for that matter.)

The old cliche' does fit:"if you don't have anything nice to say..."

However, I will take it a bit further, constructive criticism with follow up comments regarding methods to improve.

"Constructive criticism aims to show that the intent or purpose of something is better served by an alternative approach. In this case, the target of criticism is not necessarily deemed wrong, and its purpose is respected; rather, it is claimed that the same goal could be better achieved via a different route."

If you're looking for 'karaoke in training wheels' then u r in the wrong place Mr, we don't hold your hand here while ya sub, we just get out there & do our thing!

Ohh, you just gave me the incentive to record my new song for MM... don't wanna be any part of the reason for the slow up on the boards, as you stated

My concern was that most posting for Critique didn't genuinely want one hence I didn't wish to get my head handed to me for thinking I was fulfilling a true desire. When Critiquing a person who submits under "C" only to end up castigated by that individual, and apologist friends, one becomes reticent. I was told directly that many did NOT want to see the intensity of Critique in the showcase. That is why I went elsewhere. I need Critique.

I suppose I am one of the lucky ones. A little over three years singing and I KNOW on the 1-10 scale I'm a 2 or 3 rank singer. That is VERY important if one wishes to grow and learn IMO. I did manage to maintain some honest friends that told me when something is off. Thing is, It's OK not to be an "8" or "10" IMHO. I need to be challenged. I need to be told something bad "doesn't work", it motivates me to improve. (well at least a little however the Critiquing for me needs to be ongoing or I mess up badly). Singing is an area of aesthetics. The result (to me) does matter. I want to know what others hear: I just heard within the past hour, "Your recording stinks, you need to do something about that". I appreciate that and I agree 100%. I need to learn how to record too. Not just sing.

But that's just me folks- Different strokes I view singing as an art form. To get decent in any area of art takes help and work.
