I've sung both versions of Desperado at shows, I prefer backstage. SC verison seems to speed along. Maybe that's good for some people but to me BS is just more natural. (I hear that a lot about me!) Not to advocate "piracy" or illegal sharing sites here but maybe you could find someone with those tracks already and they could just send you the CD+G files for you to use at your show while keeping the original disc in it's original packaging. Should be "legal", since you now own the original disc. If you were to be audited by Sound Choice, you would have the disc in question.
Just one man's opinion.

Sorry I disagree 100%
I own both disc's an in my opinion the Backstage version is ok but not great.
I do ask my singers wich version they prefer and they ask for the Sound Choice every time. As for the rest of the Backstage disc it would make a good drink coaster.

Are these Eagles songs available on custom discs because the company is in Australia? I remember when 8125 was selling for $300! Looks like DooWop is all out of them now, too.
No flute that I'm aware of. Doesn't the sc version have the goofy accordion in it?

Thought about that Bruce. Would that be immoral?

not to me. If Sound Choice shows up, just tell them you ripped the tracks from your disc and then had someone re-shrink wrap it. ;c)

If you were really rich, Rip, you could get the songs on SC Custom and keep your disc in the shrink wrap. If you were rich.
I never had a desire for the SC disc as I thought that being new in the business, it would red flag us as pirates to have it. Plus if Zoom was adequate, didn't want to pay that much more for the songs. Now that those songs are on Custom and the stigma is no longer attached, I might have to buy a track just to see if it is really much better.
But Desperado? What brand does SuperCore use? Used to read everyone on here raving about Supercore and I had a singer who wanted Desperatdo so I sampled the Supercore version on line--that was the most bizarre version I had ever heard and I thought people who liked Super Core must be crazy.-- although people tell me that I just picked the rare wrong song to sample. But I got the Zoom disc instead and it has been used almost every night since.

The BS version does have a very pronounced flute guide melody and the organ actually sounds like the accordian, although it isn't.

But I believe they have used Music Maestro in the past & their version sounds nothing like the Eagles version, wrong key, intruments that aren't in the original, missing instruments, odd backup harmonies.

It sounded like a funeral dirge of some sort with other worldly instrumentation and an extremely pronounced guide flute that might have actually been a guide organ or something really overbearing. Can't remember exactly. I just remember it was shocking.

That ALMOST sounds like the Backstage description.

Yep the price is starting to come down now that all the songs are available on custom. I've seen them go for as high as $400 in their hey day. $175 is cheap comparitively.

Opened it. Curiosity ya know. Now that I could compare side by side and play with each one, the bs does have the flute but when I'm singing, it's not noticeable. I use a gravelly voice for this song and belt it out so I never noticed. I really don't try to sound like Henley, I use my own style. I still like the original tempo compared to SC. However, when I slow the tempo down a bit on the SC, I do like it.
So, if I'm at a show and they can slow the tempo down, I'll sing the SC, if not, I'll stick to the tried and true BS!
