I thought they always pre recorded the national anthem and the singer always lip synced it :vomit:

The half-time show looked like karaoke too.
At least I've heard better performances in karaoke.

Yeah it's amazing how easy it is to forget the words to a song you've heard/sung a million times over when singing on a "big" stage. National touring acts use prompters at shows on a regular basis so I cant' figure out why in a situation like this they just don't put one out there for them.

As far as the halftime show, that was freakin' awful. The TV audio mix was a joke, I'm still trying to find out who had that gig because there is a good chance it's a company we've worked with before. I'm still struggling to figure out what the point of having Usher come out was. He didn't sing but two lines of that song, all he did was dance and say "huh" a few times. The lighted suits were pretty cool and the lighted deck would have been had it not malfunctioned. Probably the best part of that whole show was Slash's appearance and killer guitar solo.

Well at least my Packers won, so I'm happy :)

How about a halftime karaoke show? Invite some of the fans down by a random ticket number drawing to sing karaoke. Hire a good KJ, one that has 100,000 songs, of course!

The whole thing stunk from start to finish. Only thing I enjoyed was the NFC winning the coin toss for a record 15th straight time!

Christina Aguilera messed up a line to the National Anthem. Instead of "'O'er the ramparts we watched were so gallantly streaming" turned into "what so proudly we watched at the twilight's last…..(unintelligible)."

http://www.examiner.com/celebrity-headl ... bowl-video

In all fairness it’s one of the most difficult songs to perform & to do it in front of 80,000+ seating capacity arena & millions of viewers. I think her nerves get the better of her. This flub could’ve been avoided if teleprompter was used karaoke style.

Rosanne Bahr’s rendition was still the worst of all time at the San Diego Padres Game in 1990.

Steelers lost & so did I. Lost couple of Benjamin’s.

I think the sound system reflected poorly on BEP's performance. The Antares auto-tune didn’t help much either. I was watching it with my 5.1 dolby & I can tell the sound was poorly mixed. Sounds like they used the same cd given to them for rehearsal.

I still enjoyed the light show & the Tron like moves by the dancers, especially “move that body” Fergie! :dancin: :doctor:

I think that Christina must have been drinking champagne since she got to the stadium and it showed. It doesn't look like she skipped the buffett table either.

She used to be so hot and now....not so much.

A local high school kid could have done a better job than she(CA) did yesterday.

I'll bet that Britney Spears is having a good laugh today.

In a major live event like this, what the stadium audience hear and what the home audience hear and two different mix; TV feeds and FOH mix are not the same.

Absolutely true. So who knows, the BEP's may have sounded phenominal in the stadium. But that doesn't change the fact that the whole show was lame and really bizarre, doesn't change the fact that Usher had no reason to be there at all, doesn't change the fact that the stage deck lighting failed, and certainly doesn't change the simple fact that Christina Aguelera completely blew it by forgetting the words to the most important song in our nation.

Dylan Dresdow, the engineer for the Pea's last album, made the comment "It didn't sound like that when it left my studio."

While the FOH may have sounded better, I'm guessing not by much. Anyone happen to notice that Fergie's mike was off until halfway through the first verse of I Gotta Feeling?

I would say that with time constraints, artistic input, and all the other technical aspects of a show like this, that it's probably one of the most difficult gigs to pull off. The reality of this is that those of us who work with sound and singers all the time, that is what we measure the success of it by - how well does the sound company pull this off. I'd say that most people watch the S/B for the commercials, based on what I was hearing during the game where I was enjoying it yesterday. People either love or hate the BEPs...I happen to love them. They know how to get a very varied age group going - from the youngest of kids to people my age. In fact, one of the most crowd-gripping songs in my book right now is "The Time (Dirty Bit)" -- part way through the night I sing it with a partner and we do all sorts of stage antics -- the entire room jumps up and dances. Seriously. Not many songs around that do that. In fact, none that I can think of.

This isn't the first television presentation that has made me grind my teeth due to quality - but again, people will tell you all about the commercials long after anyone noticed that Fergie's mic was off.

The anthem sounded a little unusual. I was in a different room than the tv and was wondering if someone outside was having car trouble.

Yes, and my associates and I preparing a class action as we speak. We would like your opinions, as to whom we should name as defendants.

I will admit here that I am familiar with the people who did the sound but am not at liberty to give names. I want him to remain a friend...ugggg. However, I may ask him what the hexx happened.

Yes, she has bulked up a bit, but my partner and I concur......we would give her one good lickin' she'd never forget....(of course I mean as in a fight or legal battle....get your mind out of the gutter, and don't slander us, or commit libel.....lol)

In defense of your friend, if he was FOH and monitors, then he may have had absolutely no influence on what went out for the TV audio. There's a reason sound guys refer to "vidiots," ya know.

I agree, the halftime show was really bad. Its gonna be hard to top Prince's "Purple Rain' in the rain.
