Looking to add to my CB essentials (that I bought from a KJ) and I've found some that are SCDG's or Super CDG's. Are these just CDG's with more songs than your typical karaoke cdg? Just wanted to make sure these are something I can rip with Power CD+G Burner and play through Siglos Pro.

They are not typical CDG's but a whole different format. You will need special software to rip them (RoxBox) and Chartbuster has stated that 99% out there for sale are illegal copies.

I recommend sticking with the CDG format. You have a set now that will do a great Karaoke show. Be patient and watch ebay or craigslist for used Chartbuster essential sets. I've picked up several for around $125. You should also slowly start adding the Chartbuster Yearly hit sets which are on my yearly must buy list. They keep your song list up to date and don't bloat your song book with unsung songs. Also watch for good Sound Choice CDGs that you can cherry pick. I find that the 8100 series by Sound choice is full of good songs. Be very selective in your set and try to avoid duplicates. I've got some backstage and Sweet Georgia Brown in my set to fill it out but to be honest they are not top line Karaoke Songs. Watch for the old Starz cdgs. They had a lot of good quality songs on them. Again my counsel it take your time. You already have a set that is plenty good for a karaoke show.

Thanks mule1rider! After comparing my current library to Foundations I & II, I have over 1/2. Sure they're not all CB or SC versions, but many of them were or are PHM.

In the past 2 weeks I've bought Chartbusters Top 100 Country of 2010, and Top 50 Country Vol2 of 2009 (out of stock on the 100 disc). My sister is wanting use my stuff for a teen night so I picked up Top 100 Pop for 2009 and 2010. This is all new stuff that I know I don't have.

I check ebay and craigslist daily looking for bulk discs and have been pretty successful finding decent discs for fraction of the cost.

Oh, the other thing about the SCDG's is that even if you do buy the proper ripping software, they only rip out at 128kbps

.
