One of my "regulars" is a lady who will soon turn 87-years-young. She was a war bride who met her husband-to-be while singing in a pub in London. She sings a lot of ABBA, Petula Clark, and has even been known to take on an Alan Jackson song or two... At any rate, she also sings Mull of Kintyre from time to time, and I might add... does it very well. That's our "Lady Joan".

Ever tried singing McCartney songs? They are NOT easy!
I agree. He was younger, like 18 or 20 yrs old when he wrote those songs that suit his voice. He can’t sing the same high notes now that he’s older. That probably applies to just about everyone. Mother nature will take away some of the vocal range as you get older (no pun intended from their song “Mother Nature’s Son” from their white album ). I watched his recent televised concert on HDNet & I think some of his earlier ones were sang one notch lower from the original key.
If you don’t believe here’s Steve Perry on Don’t Stop Believin’ at a much lower key @ the Chicago White Sox game http://www.nme.com/nme-video/youtube/id/sPxu10M
Just kidding. I think his vocal range is exceptional & the lower key was intentional to accommodate the range of the majority of fans.

We get Elton done regularly, also. But then we have also heard Freddie and the Dreamers and the Honeycombers. The latter had a female drummer way back in the 60s. Love it.

Never heard one. I've practiced Let 'Em In and Amazed.
Whether you like him or not, he is probably the greatest composer of all time! I love the Beatles, remember my older female cousins going nuts over them when I was 5. A couple years later, everyone in school wanted to have Beatles shoes.

I agree. His big accomplishments: Inducted at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, knighted by the Queen for his contribution in the field of music (ironically years ago he joked about smoking a joint in the Buckingham Palace toilet ), Academy Award nominations for two compositions; Live & Let Die & Vanilla Sky, one of the honorees at the Kennedy Center gala event presided by President & Mrs. Obama.
I’m a fan growing up during the Beatlemania phase. Songs I sing one notch lower key: Jet, Get Back, Band on the Run & Another Day.

There was another good composer at the time that lived about 30 miles from Liverpool.
He wrote a load of songs in the 60's as well for many artists.
Graham Gouldman from 10cc.
He used to annoy me. But he did hold my respect as a writer.

Couple of 70's hits from 10 cc listed in my book. Things We Do For Love, sc8456 & I'm Not In Love, sc8417. Very seldom requested, though, good songs nonetheless.

He wrote songs for the Yardbirds For your love,
Hollies, Bus stop, Sad Cafe, Hermans Hermits and more.
He was one of the guys who helped to make music.
He is a lot bigger than you realise.

At one of my venues a while back, I did Beatles night and everyone had to sing a Beatles song in order to progress to the next round. It worked out quite well. Other than that one night, no one has ever requested a Beatles song or a Lennon or McCartney song. However, at my gig on Saturday night, when I did some dance music, I played 4 back to back beatles songs (twist & shout, I saw her standing there, Happy just to dance with you and You're gonna lose that girl. And the crowd went nuts. The dance floor was packed with everyone dancing to Beatles music and everyone was lovin' it. It's a shame they don't get sung. The Beatles are the best.

I've sung The Things We Do For Love. Great song! It has even more meaning if you live in the northwest where it rains all the time (like walkin' in the rain and the snow).
I think the line from I'm Not In Love, "Big boys don't cry" was used in the 70's song, Mr. Jaws, or maybe a similar song (Mr. President?).
jerry12x, thanks for the history lesson. Always nice to learn who created some of these songs.

Time to time I sing Spies Like Us, and if not GnR version Live and Let Die, and for duets and sheer cheesyness Ebony and Ivory and Say Say Say, plus me and a friend did a Mash up of Silly Love Songs and Eminem's Without Me (It fits perfectly and oddly sounds good)

I have done Band on the Run before. Always saw that as a 3 part song.

About three times a years I find a reason to sing "Hi Hi Hi". It's actually not that hard to do.
"Live and Let Die" gets done every now and then, but usually not the McCartney version.
My favorite is band on the run as a group song.
I'm not much of a beatles fan, but I usually end up singing a different Beatles tune once a week. After a trip to the casino with my mate, I usually sing "I'm a Loser". It's a fun song.
