I don't know, as I have never sung under the influence -- I have only been singing 6 years.
And finding out isn't enough to make me pick up a drink, either.

But the saying "The more you drink, the better we sound" is true. Case in point one Woo-girl shrilled "Party in the USA" and somehow the soused crowd was all put their hands up and nodding their heads like yeah. I guess I didn't hear what they heard because I was drinking light.
But a good shot here and there does clear the pipes for singing some tunes.

Alcohol seems to make everyone around me sing better. The more I drink the better they get.

There could be a point where there is enhancement followed by diminishing returns. Exactly how drunk were you, JD?

Very good point, it may not make me sing better but it sure makes everyone else sound better!
While I don't generally get riproaring drunk a nice little buzz certainly doesn't hurt!

For me personally, a little bit..... yes. Because it breaks my nervousness and helps he loosen up. And I don't just think so, I know so. I'm too timid when totally sober and I know that comes across in how well I do/don't do.
Now, if I over do it with drinking, gosh only knows. Most likely not. But I try not to let that happen. I do have video of me singing while off my rocker, and ya never know what song I'll be game to try.... or what I'll be wearing for that matter.

I wondered this myself a few years ago, and did some experimentation. Here's what I found:
#1: Alcohol made GOOD singers with LOW confidence better.
#2: Alcohol made GOOD singers with HIGH confidence worse.
I literally paid attention to my regular singers at the start and end of the night, and also recorded myself sober and under the influence. I always thought I sounded better with a little "sing lube," but the tale of the tape showed that it was an illusion.
Conclusion:
Alcohol does what it is supposed to do, relieve inhibition. This can help some singers that have lots of inhibitions that are holding back their talent. However, inhibition aside, you always sound better sober than drunk!

In a related experiment, TEQUILA, in fact, DOES make her clothes fall off!

Alcohol doesn't do my singing any good at all, it tends to cloud my judgement as the night gets later. Then I start singing things I wouldn't otherwise for good reason.
Fortunately, the effect it has on my output seems to be corrected by the effect it has on the listener's input. So as long as everyone is drinking it works out ok.

Lol...... I've expiramented with it as well. Very true.
Hey, Paradigm, you're in Phoenix? Will be down that way mid March- maybe I'll be able to stop in and sing a few wherever you are. My brother is there, chances are he's been to your place perhaps.
(i promise not to sing drunk nor lose my clothing) Lmao

Ugh, if you recall right, I quit after 2 cause my ex decided he needed to drink that whole case of Budweiser I brought..... but thank you, I had tons of fun there, was nice to meet you and Scott finally (and your friend- my ex thought she was hot by the way, Lol).
And, btw, send me your private email and I'll forward you the 2 songs we dueted that he recorded. The Dixie Chicks one sounded the best, but both were good- you rock on harmony backup;)

Yes and no. Beer is a great phlegm cutter so if you don't have time for a warm-up and you're doing something a little more serious than karaoke, a short one can be good.
